because their SWF format has been open for years and someone wrote another HTML 5 renderer that works with a subset of Flash content and performs terrible?

Why? Performance is worse and you're not "stickin" it to Adobe at all since you're still watching Flash content (SWF rendered in HTML5).

I disagree with this article. I thought I could code prior to university but had no idea. If you have a chance to go to school, go. If you want to be a software developer, major in CS. Definitely have a minor or double major too.

"running sbemail45.swf" - wait... this runs off of the SWF and not source? Definitely slow with weird audio blips but very impressive so far.

While this company sounds shady, I think this is a little over the top until someone catches them in the act. Doesn't everyone hate tow companies in college areas? "But claiming that the company scraped off the parking sticker" - seems lik

Highest rated comment on other post: "Even if the rumour is false (I don't know) I don't find it unbelievable at all, because (a) it makes sense (b) this move would be both typically "Apple" and typically "Microsoft", if you look at the his

I think the problem with most of the unbelievers on this thread is that it doesn't make sense and it doesn't seem like a move Apple would make.

80% of your friends are planning on getting an iPad? Holy crap, what's your demographic (if you don't mind)?

This goes against everything they've been vehemently defending the past months. An extra layer, non-unique apps, etc. AND Microsoft is a much larger competitor than Adobe.

I don't think this is real. If they wanted more developers and an influx of apps they would have partnered with Adobe. I don't think it makes sense to partner with Microsoft who competes on a hardware and software basis.

That's neat but it doesn't work in non-HTML5 browsers. Should't the goal of something like a registration page be to target as many people as possible?

Yep, I agree. This Reddit story pissed me off: http://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comments/c6e49 Basically some guy was able to trademark "Power Hour" and is sending legal threats to hundreds of sites that use the drinking game.

If Apple wouldn't allow Adobe's design tools to create native iPhone apps, why would they want Adobe's design tools to create HTML5 apps?

Didn't know that Flash had an "On-demand" feature. I think it's time to accidentally drop my Blackberry in the toilet.

So what was his reasoning for leaving it off the device? To be less "Microsoft" and because they want to compete? Right...

My favorite: "Barack Obama - An account in Redmine that we assign our most aspirational tickets to, i.e. the stuff we'd really like to do with a project but will probably never get approval for."

Definitely a cool feature but I don't get the "deadly" part. You need to be logged into your Google Account in order to send remote commands. It seems that pop-ups on your phone would be the least of your worries...

Apple will create more excuses... I'm thinking security issues will be the next focus. Flash could (and probably would) hurt AppStore sales. It probably wouldn't be significant but some developers would choose to use or keep using Flash ra

A program that keylogs your machine and grabs your passwords is a virus. You're right they are fairly common but once again a "popup" on your phone from a virus is the least of your worries.

I haven't had any issues with downloading incompatible apps (even with 1.5). I recently started Android development and decided to target 1.5 and haven't hit any roadblocks. The only issue I've encountered is that 1.5 doesn't support sepa

Most users don't know what OS version they are running or care. Those that do can "hack" it (feels wrong to call installing an OS hacking).

Isn't there going to be security with this feature? I don't think any app/website can send remote commands without having your credentials. If spyware has your kid sister's Google credentials, pop-ups are the last of her worries.

Anyone can play in Microsoft and Apple's OS garden. The major difference in Apple's mobile garden is that they strictly control who can enter AND what you can do once your in it.

The same thing can be said about HTML4. If the website was designed for mouse-hover and not rewritten... guess what? The bottom line is that the end user should be able to choose. Arguing against that is just silly. Shouldn't Apple block
