It's not like they're breaking into your house and stealing private information. Your router is broadcasting your SSID.

I think the best bet is JQuery - it's not bad but definitely not as quick for GUIs. Browser compatibility is still a crapshoot when working with html/css/js and it will only get worse with HTML5. Good luck.

The article says, "The iPhone 4S really sends raw audio data". At least for Siri, TtS occurs on the cloud - not sure where the text processing > API occurs though.

I'm sorry but what does twittering about a public argument and stealing nude pictures from Bourdain have in common? The whole thing is sensational - don't do stupid things in public. "He was really hearing the crumbling of his own ethics a

XAML worse than HTML/CSS? What about the fun task of hacking your HTML/CSS app to look the same across browsers?

What was the alternative? HTML/CSS?? Hah.

HTML5 support still sucks. I work with companies daily who are forced to use old versions of IE. So, we're forced to use plain HTML to build our business on, technology is going backwards.

That's a developer issue, not a platform issue. A glitzy HTML5 application/website will perform worse than HTML5. Benchmarks: http://www.craftymind.com/guimark3/

It performs better than HTML5 on mobile.

Flash definitely outperforms HTML5 on mobile and desktop: http://www.craftymind.com/guimark3/

Agreed, I like the new design and LOVE the new gmail design. I don't see anything to complain about once they add whitespace customization (like gmail).

I wouldn't be surprised if racism in the tech industry was more towards Indians.

So one of their customers is racist and now racism is "alive and well". Seems like they were living in a bubble if they thought racism no longer existed.

I wasn't complaining, simply asking. Maybe Ad-block will be updated to work on HN as well.

Is there any way to block (YC WXX) spam?

Well I do agree, Adobe totally dropped the ball. However, it seems to be stable for me across several windows machines, linux, touchpad, and even Android. Now that it's "more" stable, iOS users don't have a choice to install it. Why?

I have a TouchPad, Droid X, and CR48 and Flash seems to work great on all of them - Flash outperforms HTML5 at least for this example. One major issue is the sheer content of Flash advertisements which will drain your battery if you don't

That's silly, had Steve Jobs wanted Flash to work on iOS it would work fine on iOS. Of course it doesn't work. Power consumption in HTML5 is still higher than equivalent Flash, touch is a non-issue but standards is where HTML5 shines. I be

I used to fight it but it's a lost cause. The cloud is officially a buzzword and can be used to describe any hosted solution.

This is true, Sikuli can be used to hack together things like auction house scripts but OCR can be an issue.

Piracy has never been more convenient in gaming than the traditional route, even with DRM. How convenient is it to download 4GB, follow cryptic instructions, apply a crack, be banned from online play, be unable to update patches, etc. I'm

I think the "problem" he's referring to is the learning aspect. Web based thermostats and home automation have been around for over 10 years.

I didn't have any problem reading the site - perhaps it's your eyes? In fact, I'd say the Contrast Rebellion logo is the biggest violation of my eyes. Scrolling up and down doesn't seem right...

I've never noticed laggy scrolling and I don't even have a current gen phone (Droid X). Perhaps your friends have other reasons for not considering it... Edit: Maybe because I've always used launcher pro?

I think you're overanalyzing it. Why should Verizon have to deal with bricked phones because some user wanted to root it? How do they train their tech support to be familiar with every ROM variation to even provide support? The simple so
