Of course you do. It was fantastic while it lasted. It's not a great model for software developer though. I have no idea how Beyond Compare guy (scooter software) survives, for example. I paid for it once, maybe 10 years ago? He should

The "file" OP refers to is the encryption key. And, I will reiterate, if you don't have "the file" you don't have shit.

The fact anyone should think this is somehow acceptable state of art is obscene to me.

Dead cat bounce. Engineers are paid $1000 a day because they create value to the tune of $10 000 a day. So maybe you saved $4 million a day in very short term, but now the momentum is gone, and soon you will not be earning $40 million a day

Indeed, this is one Go convention that I strongly dislike. Java did have that approach once (HTMLDOMURIReference, XMLIDREF and the likes) but they learned their lesson. And what's the basis of capitalizing D in ID?

Here's a thought exercise I would like to put to test sometime. Let's say I would like to make USD 200 000 a year as a contracted sotware engineer. And I would like to try billing 10 hours a week. Take 6 weeks off a year, so this

I detect that your question probes the subtle difference how one can be implicitly defining the semantics of "living" and "in" when posing the question, influencing the expected answer.

the article mentions Dugin, and doubts that Kuryokhin actually supported his ideas. do you have more evidence that supports your statement, that Kuryokhin actually had become a follower of Dugin?

The "jittery" I guess refers to layout getting reflowed in ugly ways. Like in that meme, you move a picture 1 pixel, the whole document get totally messed up. The reason for that behavior is probably very deep flaws in the layout

You don't need 22kW charger if your car has 50kWh battery. Those cars usually have 11 kW on-board AC charger anyway. In fact, for daily driving, 3 kW overnight charging at your home should be plenty - you would be able to charge up 30

This single tweet sounds cryptic, but in tweet above it Vitalik strongly speaks out against Putin and Russia's aggression, ending with "Слава Украине." (Glory to Ukraine)

You never mentioned how many grams the "stick" weighs. And I have never found out. Saying it's half "a cup" is even more ridiculous. What does volume have to do with it? Greetings from Berlin.

What's your hourly rate by the way? I am wondering if you actually lost money while inquiring about these repairs. If you make 100$ an hour, it's just 9 hours of your work to buy a new one. Basically one working day + a smidge.

It nags you incredibly. Everytime you sit in the car, the pop-up is there, nagging to install now, or to schedule install overnight. The way out of the pop-up is a small [x] to close it. And the dialog is right back the next time, waiting u

The advantage of "defer" is that it's explicit. It's right there, and it's crystal clear when it will run. The "implicitness" and hidden nature of destructors is a disadvantage, it's the unpleasant wa

A lot of things about humans is based on desire, not on logical conclusion or requirement. Humans do things because they want to, not because they need to or it's the logical or rational thing to do. Evoking desire is key.
