This is "just" a press release made by As You Sow in its un-edited form. This doesn't necessarily make it claim invalid, but just remember that no journalist have been involved here. It is also weird that As You Sow hasn'

For a long time I just used Chrome - because why not? It's an awesome browser, especially when you are a web developer. But I was always annoyed about the fan on my MacBook Air mid 2011 spinning all the time - but I didn't connect

No I know it's not even close. I might be foolish and I might mix up some numbers (here it's closer to 50 than 30 years) - but when reading papers like this I can't help feeling slightly optimistic: http://www.nick

I've been interested in AI for a long time. But the last year AI discussions seem to have really hit mainstream, which we can also see here on Hacker News with a lot of posts about deep learning etc. Lately I read this two piece story

If you want to watch the video without having to install Flash, just replace "www" with "m" - Not the best video quality since it's optimised for mobile, but a nice productivity tip for Safari users ;)

One weird thing that I've discovered is that there seem to be no correlation between who I consider a great hacker and how many followers they have in top 10k. For instance maxogden [1] and mafintosh [2] are both in top 1k but have onl

He already uses libxml, so cheerio or jsdom would be alternatives. It's true that cheerio it self have 5 direct dependencies and I'm not sure if that is what he refers to when using the word "lightweight". I can't s

I'm interested to hear what you think is problematic when building a web crawler in regards to dependencies? Is it specific to the DOM parsing?
