I originally built this app around one of the Apple streaming samples, just so I could listen to Dandelion Radio, a station in the UK. I ended up adding in panel animation, and stream-scraping / detection from Google. Eventually, I decided

That's awesome. And if Google wanted to do it in the US, they could just rent a freight car, or perhaps even build a set of cameras into a standard freight container.

Darn, this article got posted about the same time I submitted a link. I did post that, since I did get bogged down for an hour or so reading the other posts on the site. The author appears to be a female sysadmin, in Ireland, with some time

This is the part where they are going to need a bunch of money to ramp up. Let's hope these boards work ok, and that RaspPI manage to get their hands on some bridging.

Yes, I wouldn't argue that the iPod shows a vision, but the push on OS X, and other things, from 2004 or so onwards feels in a different league, at least to me, compared to around 2000. Also, look at how slowly OS X improved in the first fe

Interesting, as a former, non-gay, UK resident, I'm not allowed to give blood in the US, even though I was allowed to obtain a green-card, and screened for HIV by a US doctor in London. I believed at the time this was due to the UK CJD scar

Look for a white cubic box, with vents, on a F350-type / Dodge Sprinter chassis. I'll be keeping my eyes open for these. It seems surprising that this can be permitted, bearing in mind the radiation being broadcast from these machines, in o

The only thing I run with any regularity, that feels like it could use more raw horsepower is the Clang/LLVM static-analyzer. Adding an SSD seemed to make no difference, but with luck, the software will get some love and speed up.

My interpretation is, that in Apple's case, Steve getting cancer in the mid 2000's appears to have galvanized him, and by extension the entire company. I just read through all John Siracusa's OS X reviews, and things really moved fairly slo

From personal experience, texting can work up to about 7,000 feet, but voice didn't. This was about 10 years ago, so things have likely changed.

There's obviously nothing wrong with taking pictures of a lemon, but to criticize Norvig for writing a great tutorial on available light photography, illustrated with great portraits of a superb subject, then to have almost nothing of compa

Yes, I agree, Peter Norvig gave a fantastic, all-points overview of why most people struggle to get pictures to come out in poor situations, then gave buying recipes for tools that actually work in low lighting. Of course, back in the days

This is hilarious. The author disparages Norvig, from the shaky ground of apparently having barely one decent photograph to his name. I restrained myself earlier from posting a comment to the effect that Norvig had demonstrated, but not str

Never thought of that. Of course, it explains why even super integrated, cost-engineered laptops like the MBP and even the iMac have a little PCIe card running the WiFi. One benefit of this, is that there is a thriving marker for these thin
