Reddit did two brilliant things: 1. They didn't screw up their site. 2. They scaled. Not without struggles tho. Pretty good demo of letting competitors destroy themselves.

Here's a link to the hilariously primitive looking 1.3 MP F3 based DCS100. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodak_DCS_100 The box next to it is the unit that holds images, and a 5 MB SCSI disk. (About equivalent to a 1st gen iPod I guess)

The answer just has to be "yes", subject to the number of party-based network marketing type operations, especially those for "soft-goods" such as semi-precious jewelry, soaps/toiletries, candles/ornaments, lingerie/(err)novelties, etc. Hos

Here's a 5 - 10 minute iterative version in C. https://gist.github.com/1567842 I tend to like to rough code out Lispishly, but if I'm actually running stuff I'll often do it in C.

The same thing happened with SUN NeWS, a PDF-based rendering system, some 10 years or so ahead of OS X. It was beautiful, but slow. Give it time, even as an iOS programmer, in my opinion I'd think that HTML/CSS/JS is long-term , the better

I suspect the brakes are off on Wii piracy at least. I've no idea how it's done, but I've seen a Wii hooked up to a network or hard drive that had every published Wii game on it. Personally, I'd rather not break the law, I have about 15 gam

For anyone wondering about "C upvalues", which wasn't clear to me, there is some explanation here: http://www.lua.org/pil/27.3.3.html Essentially, they are unbound variables that have to be reachable from the function by some mechanism, m

Writing in assembler, it's easy to construct linked records, and recursion works correctly, since you have a stack. It might take awhile, but it doesn't seem like it would be as hard to macro up some higher-level routines for parsing and co

Yes, totally agree. There's a dead feeling that comes with movies that have been made as commercial vehicles, rather than as pieces of art. Sometimes the results aren't too bad, Batman, Ironman etc., but other times they are just phoning it
