Quality 32 GB flash drives are $20 on Amazon. mRAM is going to have to work hard to keep up.

Just ordered one. It looks great, and at $200, you can now regard the iPad as a different class of device. Really looking forward to getting mine, and hopefully looking forward to developing a few apps for it.

And even then, there was plenty of C, it just hadn't migrated down to small memory microcomputers yet. By the mid-Eighties I was doing some dev on C on the Amiga, and on Sun boxes at Uni.

I can't say it strongly enough, but the ability to be one of the diminishing few with a high ability to understand, debug and fix, large Visual C++ codebases, will likely provide you with a long career. Not all of it is going to be rewritte

It's great to have fun, but I find I like to have goals that allow me to focus on what is necessary, and try and de-emphasize those things that are not really necessary. My current goals include code that will hopefully contribute substanti

Where are you? Is it somewhere you are not really needed? Is there opportunity to develop your job description to take on needed roles that are not filled? If the answer is no, then maybe you should consider moving on.

Ahhh, the complex, expensive solution, to a problem that nobody has. See also, another shining success, the Palm Folio. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palm_Foleo And on an even lamer note, the BlackBerry PlayBook requiring a paired handset

It's interesting that the John Warnock interview, on Postscript, has not dated in the least. John Page's article, has dated somewhat with its mention of candidate programming languages, but it's the one I searched out, as his discussion of

This is nothing but a fairly desperate attempt to gain email address share, and promote Facebook lock-in. Think about Joe Average User who spends a bunch of time on Facebook. If people start emailing them at JoeAverageUser@Facebook.com, the

I had an interesting test imposed on me last night. Power outage, phone almost dead, children asleep. In bed at 9:30, asleep by 10pm and totally awake and annoying my wife with chatter at 4:30am. 6 and 1/2 hours sleep. Pretty normal for me.

Good grief, my Scottish school (Banchory Academy) had huge portions of fairly stolid, if unspectacular food. Always plenty of veg and a meat, and a dessert. Portions have downsized to airline proportions...

The first mistake here is submitting a resume. You need to be calling your contacts at Mark Cuban and saying, "Yeah, I'm in good shape here, but I'm willing to look at other things."

Clojure brings a REPL, which is a huge bonus to productivity with the JVM ecosystem. It also brings a simple syntax (verb stuff more stuff), and some easy ways to extend and interact with libraries such as SWING.

Well, it's a "confusopoly", but you can reckon to pay about $80 / month for two years, plus an initial $100 - $200, for one single top of the line phone, such as an iPhone 4S. Over two years, this amortizes the phone cost, and if you keep p

Interestingly, the original iPhone 4 is a more attractive device than the iPhone 4S because it doesn't rattle when you put it down. I can't believe that slipped though. It's a blot on the impression of the iPhone 4S as a solid thing.
