I have good eyesight. I don't need glasses. I still like to zoom in on text by double-tapping and pinching to zoom. What if I'm on a bus and it's easier to read larger text? You can add 'with an under-developed theory of

The book covered that in quite some detail, but I can't remember the specifics. Certainly, there are links between colour perception and language. As I recall (I could be wrong), the author's conclusion is that the ability of some

> Sapri-Whorf Hypothesis [sic] ... if the hypothesis stands I don't think it does still stand, does it? For an interesting, not-overly-academic look at Sapir-Whorf, I recommend http://www.amazon.co.uk/Through-Languag

I thought this might be related to the fact that Keynote breaks backward compatibility. A colleague of mine upgraded to Mavericks and now cannot open all the documents she created, apparently with no recourse. Anyway, it isn't, it'

I haven't made a single grammar claim. I have, quite deliberately, not taken a prescriptive approach. Please quote and prove me wrong. Are you saying that my 'regretting nitpicking' is a grammar claim? It was true when I wrot

I'm sorry to say that lots of people are using Excel in 'production' for mission-critical money things. It's scary. For example: http://financialsystems.sungard.com/solutions/hedge-funds-ma...

I don't know what the current state of Office for Mac is. But the Windows and Mac versions have an interesting and colourful history. A number of separate codebases, converging and diverging. I don't know if this is the best, but

It depends what you're trying to achieve. I took pains to say that I wasn't asserting any universal truth about the English language. I'm not taking a position on whether it has or hasn't been used in English or any othe

I was wondering how IPC was done. I would imagine that VBA works on in-process data structures whereas you'd have to marshal messages over IPC to get Python working. How does it work? Is it more COM-like?

I'm not soliciting an argument. But... I would argue that this is consistent because 'two nights' isn't a countable quantity, it's an 'un-countable' period of time. Although you could argue the opposite is

You'd be amazed what people make Excel do with VBA (hint: it doesn't always have much to do with spreadsheets).

I really really don't want to grammar-nitpick (this looks like an amazing product) but 'less bugs' kind of hints at low quality. If I were you (and I'm not) I would replace that with 'fewer bugs' or whatever.

Chrome 31.0.1650.63 on a not-slow connection, no extensions. See my edit, the JS file took a long time to load. After a few cache-resets and refreshes, it reduces to 5 seconds. It might have been a cold CloudFront cache but still. I'm

This just shows a blank, light grey page. I assume it should do more than that. EDIT: It loaded, after more than 10 seconds. The HTML loaded in less than a second, as did the images, but your 500 kilobytes of JavaScript (what? why?) took 10

Don't worry, I have (hence my disbelief at the first comment). Funny we've come full circle (via e.g. Java) back to the point where that is valid code.

I've read this elsewhere. Joyent appears to be threatened economically by StrongLoop. And there's a suggestion that Bryan Cantrill was annoyed up by Ben Noordhuis in the past. I think that clears up the question of Bryan's in

I would dearly love to agree (see my other comments if you don't believe me). But Bryan Cantrill's, and Joyent's behaviour seems very cynical, manipulative, and childish. He used deliberately inflammatory language, and would

What a mess this whole thing is. I'm looking forward to a level-headed explanation of all of this in a few days. It's a pity the witch-hunt happened before there's been meaningful dialogue to find out exactly what the situati
