All corporations are evil because their main goal and arguably the only reason to exist is to make profit and that by itself is incompatible with the concept of ethics. All large organizations also dilute responsibility since it's not

This is very different on PC since Valve does not have the same iron grip on the platform that Sony has. If Steam becomes evil and tries to take my games away I'll just download a pirated copy instead. I purchase my games for convenien

A psychiatrist told me that people with ADHD perform better under extreme pressure and chaos. No idea if that's true. Personally I don't even think of ADHD as a deficiency. It's just a trait that is not compatible with modern

Weird that your comment got "downvoted". It's perfectly reasonable and pretty informative with the exception of converting old JPEGs to new format automatically. Seems like a huge waste of resources to shed a few KBs off an a

What's wrong with JPEG and why is not using it beneficial in any way?

So you're saying that LLMs are a dead end technology? Do you have anything to back up that claim?

Because not doing it is even easier.

If you find some make sure its fermented and contains only cabbage, salt and optionally carrot. No vinegar, no citric acid, no preservatives or anything weird like that.

This new technology more powerful than the internet can't answer the simplest questions straight. If this is the future then I don't want it. LLMs are pretty great at generating code and recognizing patterns and that's about

When building your own you can get: - 2x the GPU for about the same price. - Same power usage while in sleep. - HDMI CEC with a dongle. - Wake up from sleep with controller if using official Steam Controller. - Cool and quiet operation. You

I build and/or service all of my PCs, servers and laptops. I never had a single component die on me. I still have my first 128GB Samsung SSD serving as a boot drive in my NAS. Sometimes I buy used parts. Sometimes I sell used parts. I

So does a PC. Steam Machine can't be upgraded. Once SM becomes too slow for gaming it will become mostly useless as it lacks necessary ports to be repurposed into a reasonable home server. I always reuse my old PC parts as home server

And where did that god come from? Primordial soup full of magic and stardust? The idea of life starting by chance is completely absurd to you but somehow a god that just came out of nowhere is perfectly reasonable.

>Isn't DDR4 like, old and obsolete? I built a new gaming PC with DDR4 two months ago and it's pretty great. For servers RAM speed usually matters even less.

If that was the reason then Windows laptops with WWAN wouldn't exist.

I never had any problems with Thread that couldn’t be fixed by pulling batteries from a crashed Ikea device and I have very little interest in how the protocol works. Automatic updates in Home Assistant are disabled by default for a reason.

I’m using ZBT-2 with HAOS on RPi 4 4GB. It’s rock solid in a crowded apartment complex. Devices are 90% IKEA and 10% Aqara. Definitely try that antenna and don’t connect additional border routers. Let HA own everything.

Security system that can be jammed is a terrible idea. Cameras should be wired. Ideally on separate network and with battery backup.

My entire “smart” home setup is built with Matter over Thread. It’s fully local. No internet access required. With Home Assistant onboarding can be done without a smartphone now. Devices without official certification work but probably only

In my country most if not all corporate jobs offer private healthcare plans that let you have an unscheduled online chat with a doctor. You can get one day of sick leave that way. Sometimes two. If you need more you will most likely be aske

I just tried to check if one of my 8BitDo controller buttons can be remapped to guide button and now I want to kill myself too. It’s hard for me to accept that this shit is taking peoples jobs.

I’m pretty sure Pi 4 struggles with 4k decoding. It can work but is less than ideal. I also wouldn’t recommend buying a new Pi these days. Prices are insane.

What a long and convoluted way to arrive at the most obvious conclusion. Use redundant storage (mirrors) for important data and have backups (3-2-1 rule). Don’t waste money on redundancy if your data can be easily reacquired.

If you have a Raspberry Pi 5 gathering dust somewhere and need a new streaming box then try LibreELEC. It decodes 4k content just fine. It has HDMI CEC. It can stream from local server or play directly from attached storage. There are no ad
