There is no copyright on recipes; this is why the SEO laden essays exist. You can just steal recipes, because no one owns them anyway. Given the choice between a recipe site that has a thousand words about someone's grandmother or a re

Mold for the silicon keyboard - the first five keyboards is going to be about $6k. After that, each keyboard is about a dollar a piece. Same with the plastic enclosure.

RaSCSI is a virtual SCSI device emulator that runs on a Raspberry Pi. It runs in userspace, and can emulate several SCSI devices at one time. There is a control interface to attach / detach drives during runtime, as well as insert and

I built something similar: https://bbenchoff.github.io/pages/dumb.html What are you going to do about the actual cost of the device? You've already got an e-paper display, but you're also adding a 'lapto

If you're shocked by this, you would be appalled at the state of Open Source Hardware. I've gone over the OSHWA Certified Project list [1], go into the repos, and actually take a look at what these projects offer. The _majority_ o

This is a great trick, but it's only really useful if you're using a CRT or are on a very memory-constrained platform where you can't store a separate 'bold' font. I've implemented it here https://tw

Fairly easy, a few thousand lines of C. Bit of work, though. Parser is the hardest, a lot of details to get right. You don't really need a buffer for the output, because you can't type that fast. Of course, driving the display is

If you're talking about the recipes, it's open source in that it's public domain. Or it's not open source, because it can't be copyrighted and therefore all the frameworks that allow for open source don't apply

Hi, creator here, yes I have a long history of advocating violence _in response to violence_.[1] I'm also the founder of Guillotinery[2], a guillotine startup. I'm looking for some VCs that would like to get in on the ground floor

Creator here. Yes, the original idea ended up being a ~$200 BOM or something like that. I dug in and decided to do _everything_ on a $2 microcontroller. Unfortunately for me, that means spending a lot of time getting the code to work, and g

Creator here. It's a dumb terminal. Out of the box, it does nothing. It's a keyboard and a screen, and everything you type goes onto the screen and out the serial port. However, there's an internal 2x20 header that just happe

You can do it for ~$30-40. There are two problems: The screen, and the microcontroller. For the screen, you can just use a regular TFT, and only display one color. This has the benefit of bringing down the size of the frame buffer down from

While plagiarism is unethical, nearly all means to combat it (detection software, esp. Turnitin) is also unethical; two wrongs don't make a right. Under the ToS of all plagiarism detection software (at least that I've looked at),
