I think the answer to "can something be fuzzy equal to one value and strictly equal to another in JS?" has an easy answer that doesn't take much effort to find. This might be cooler in another language, though. var b = 2; b =

I don't care if people are of a different belief system than I am as long as they don't directly lead to the deaths of thousands of people. I think the Eich situation was crazy for sure, but I didn't boycott Mozilla (.. altho

I don't think metro itself is very good, and, like I said, I don't use it. I use Win+Q for searching (much like I use CMD+space on mac) and never even open the metro interface. I agree with you that the start menu and the idea of

I don't really think adding in the start menu is the answer. I've been using Win 8 since release candidate and, although I was annoyed at first, I soon grew to enjoy the new UX. When I use Win 7 now, the thing that annoys me the m

We switched over to git from svn recently at work and the amount of confusion and accidents is crazy. I've been using git (mostly solo to two coworkers) for years, but there are still issues I run into where I'm stumped. I look th

Isn't this just basic supply and demand? There are more students trying to go to university now than there were in the 70s. It's basically become the next version of high school socially (and, sadly, also academically in many case

I used netbeans when I was doing a lot of Java dev. Since I've stopped, I've been using Komodo and it serves my purposes. I don't particularly miss it, but if I go back to more java dev, I'll be downloading netbeans firs

Yep. So much weirdness here when they had a really good shot at "fixing" it.

Yeah, I'm just not sure why they have public function get_name(): string but use public string $x = ''; The incosistency drives me a bit crazy.

Yeah, you could go either way on it really. It seems weird to mix them, though!

Why use public string $x = ''; instead of public $x:string = ''; It seems inconsistent to me, probably because I've used AS3/Haxe.

I haven't looked this over too much but I'm curious as to why they did this: <?hh class MyClass { const int MyConst = 0; private string $x = ''; public function increment(int $x): int { $y = $x + 1; retu

I'm not sure if the 'turnovers'/'turnovers_per_game' is a POSITIVE or a NEGATIVE. Is it that they turn it over that many times? Or they take it away? I'm assuming it's a negative and it really means t

I've found the opposite with Coffeescript as far as returning to old code. It's clean, nicely indented, easy to follow. I don't use all of the shortcuts, though. For example, I'd never write a plain object without includ

Maybe he didn't list it because he was, in fact, exercising? It's possible to burn out and exercise, but for some reason every other comment on HN drudges up exercise with a routine to "help" everyone else. This goes bac

Plain JS is great! I love writing it. That said, as a site (or app) grows, you generally end up writing more utility functions than you expected, and at some point it cancels out the benefits of NOT using jquery (or another lib). You have t
