Does it make sense though? Any USB drive is so super cheap these days, you can easily get something like 128 Gb for $15. Even if you live in an area where it’s not as easy (e.g. not very developed places), you’re likely to find, say, 32 Gb

And you need to select the check box somewhere in the settings app for it to work. Source: helped a friend with the feature recently, he didn’t know it exists.

‘Nearly 20 years’ got me. I thought ‘no way, the very first iPhone was released a little bit more than 10 years ago and Android was released a year after’. Then I realised we’re closer to 20 years than we’re to 10 years. It was almost 17 ye

I could say the same things, but at some point I realised that for me the less the interface the better. And Linux is so very good at it.

Thanks, I thought whether I want ReMarkable or iPad 12.9 for reading PDFs. I had this the biggest iPad back in the days it was introduced, but gave it to a friend as it felt too big for me, and way too expensive for what I wanted from an iP

Personally, I don’t know. Although, a friend of mine does exactly that with his Windows install. The first time he described this to me was like 15 years ago! I never went that way, maybe because I don’t need the exact same system most of t

Yes, there is a way of restoring your packages. Arch has some decent wiki entries for this: - https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/migrate_installation_to_new... - https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Inst

Not to argue, but the reinstalling part isn’t so difficult these days. I don’t have a current bootable ISO, but I have a bunch of old 8…16 Gb USB drives just for that. Also, there is Ventoy that makes it even easier. So making an installer

Do you keep some notes on the books you read? (I mean online notes here; but if you don’t keep them online, while maintaining the notes, the question is still valid. Maybe you have some system that works for you and you want to share.)

I’m curious as well, as I missed quite many Gnomes. I used it back in Gnome-2 days, and now it’s 45. I think I accidentally tried it a couple of years back (43, if I’m not wrong) and I like it so much that I use it till this day. Combining

That button makes me consider whether my sway setup is worth it, as sometimes I think Gnome can achieve something similar. And even with less cognitive load, sometimes!

Hmm, the OVMS project looks interesting. But I don’t quite get it, is it kind of OpenWrt project, but for cars? My car has a native support, I see.

The boy is 17. At that age you’re not that overwhelmed with people distracting you for no real reason. (Apart from parents, but that’s not work-related usually.) So you can basically be offline most of the time. I envy that bliss, it’s so d

Well, if you have parents (he definitely has them at 17) or other relatives, you can ask them to host your hardware for some thank you payment (can be just the benefit of having PiHole for free). Or that could be some friend as well.

But both Android [1] and iOS [2] clients have git functionality built-in. You just swipe it up (for iOS) or press sync (and swipe too, don’t remember if it works on Android) and it syncs. A couple of iOS notes: - The iOS app has a nasty bug
