I do the manual mount too! I have /mnt/usb directory and the devices I mount are usually something like /dev/sdb1 on my laptop. So ctrl+r and the command `mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usb` is in my history already. No difficulty here, as I mount a USB device like once a month or two.
