Meant Silverblue, but was writing from the phone and so it happened to be Silverlight. Cannot edit the original comment, hence I’m adding this note.

I bought an iPad Pro 12.9 1st Gen. recently. It costed $150-ish and I’m very happy what I got for the price. So I’m considering to upgrade everyone to used iPad Pros. Most people don’t need a desktop operating system these days. The 1st Gen

Why is 7 aged though? It works very well in my household.

Yeah, that’s for me. And also, FYI you can unlock chromeOS with a Bluetooth device (e.g. a smartwatch, if they have one), so it’s easier to unblock. I haven’t found any decent alternative to entering a complicated Google account password.

Yeah, that’s my favourite part as well! So inspiring and cool! Yet, actually, could be not a super difficult thing to do (if you’re able to do that), and worth investing your time into.

I couldn’t quickly find what ‘synthetic iCloud account’ is, what do you mean by that? From the context it’s not very clear the difference with the regular iCloud account.

Fedora Silverlight for PC. Or ChromeOS Flex, if you need only the browser. Basically zero maintenance system. iPad and iPhone for mobile devices, they just work. I think slightly outdated devices are the best: they still very good, are chea

Yeah, but it works the other way too, isn’t it? If you’re happy with Cosmic, does it make it superior to Gnome then? For me, I like the simplicity and polish, and I like it way much more than other DEs.

No, I don’t realise that, because I’m not using the product and hear about it maybe 3rd time. That’s great they’re quick to implement, the Rust initiative, etc. But as a user of Gnome (since 2, idk if that’s forever) I don’t see much of a d

Why had you preferred AdGuard over PiHole? Just curious, didn’t follow AdGuard at all, never used it.

The technical peers can start and create the masses worth joining the platform for. Your average non-technical Joe would never understand why would they swap their Facebook or Twitter for this. It would happen only when the technical folks

Surprisingly, his rules are applicable to what I came up with over the years of my ADHD as well! What I learned is that the tools must be as simple as possible, and the complexity kills quite many intentions.

It’s a nice write-up, thank you. But I didn’t get the YouTube Premium thing in this context. Does it allow watching something that is hidden from non-premium plebs? I thought it’s a no-advertising thing, the premium, isn’t it?

As someone of a higher age, I would suggest that we don’t really need any advice. I read all his essays long ago, when I was young, and it sounded persuading to me. I think it even influenced me here and there. Now, somewhat a decade or two

I’m following this advice for about two decades, and I’m not even close to being rich. I’m rather poor at the day. One of the reasons is my background, besides ‘building my stuff’ I was very busy fighting the obstacles most of the people in

I’m in a similar position and I’m learning the KVM/QEMU way. So I hope I’ll manage to stay on Linux and add virtualised macOS and Windows apps to my stack. If it would work as I expect, then there’s no real need to even update those vi

Yeah, that’s why when I update my Arch MacBook Air once a year or two it works well, but Debian dies and needs to reinstall for some unknown reason. Before that, I believed Debian is so very stable. My experience shows the opposite.

Yeah, by the way browsing on iPhone 6S Plus is quite okay, compared to even MacBook Pro (2011, but that’s a laptop!), I would say.

I don’t get the idea. There’s no real need to have a real server, just buy a cheap ducking pc, connect sata drives there, set some shared folder or whatever you want there and that’s it. I assume the owner is all-in Apple fanboi. I worked w

Wikipedia says AppleTalk is discontinued. Is there some open source implementation? I would love to make a system that will easily connect my macs with my Linux machines at home.

Do you mean time and energy for optimising things that make no sense, so you have no time and energy to optimise things that make sense?

Yeah, back in 2011, I bought iPhone 4S, not 4, for exactly that, because of Siri. Expecting it to work as I imagined back then. Siri is still not there, 13 years / generations of iPhones later.
