But Apache isn't misconfigured in this instance - a file was uploaded and people are claiming that being able to view that file is a vulnerability. I guess it is a vulnerability of the same standard as "My password is: password". I just don

It appears to me that you brought in 2 friends for the sake of bringing in 2 friends, not because you needed them. One guy's job is to handle funding, of which he has yet to acquire any, and the other guy's is to handle marketing and gettin

This isn't really a vulnerability - just developers not doing their job. Anyone who uses SVN (or any other version management system, for that matter) should know how it works. I know SVN creates these hidden directories (named .svn) within

Depends on the project. If it's just for a simple content site, I'll use my hosting account through ASmallOrange. If I need Ruby/Python/more resources than a shared account I'll set the client up on GAE or Slicehost.

It really depends on the "feel" of the application. For instance, Outlook and Twitter are productivity/communications applications to me. Therefore, I feel as if flagging is an action whereas starring is favoriting/liking an item. Other sit

Go with the girl, go with your startup - give up everything else. I, as well, had extremely long hours working on a startup. But the girlfriend, now my wife, was always there to back me up and lift me back up when I was doubtful of things (

I imagined your biggest regret would be wasting all of that time trying to force the site to work on RoR and then finally relenting and switching back to PHP. Not a flame, just a serious thought: from what I remember the RoR was worked on f

No way - don't go that route. Insanely expensive - their prices are on par with the UoP ripoff and you aren't even getting a degree at that rate. Just stepping stones to the degree.

The name on the degree is very important as that name portrays what knowledge and skills you were given the opportunity to gain from the process. A degree that reads [Insert State or Ivy League] University shows a much higher level of oppor

I completely agree as well - after asking here on HN about online degree programs, I ended up selecting Troy University. It's a real, respected university, with local offices in my city (Augusta, GA) if I choose to take a course or two that

To everyone here at HN (because we know SkyNet will be built by someone within today's hacker community). Please remember to program a kill command in an area of memory in which SkyNet has no access. I believe ↑↑↓↓←→←→BA will suffice.

Thanks for the link - it's so hard to get around all of the spam when searching for a online CS degree, I completely missed DePaul. The program looks pretty good.

I didn't really think Devry was scraping the bottom of the barrel. Cost is an issue - although the GI Bill will cover a majority of it, the schools I am looking at do charge more than I will receive so out of pocket expense is of some conce
