In the walkthrough this person mentions being 15 y.o. I look forward to seeing what they do over the following 15 years!

Any one else familiar with “solar vapor drive” in the building science community (vapor being driven into buildings from the outside simply due to solar exposure)? My understanding is that it is expected even in the absence of warmth. Is th

Yeesh, I am sorry this person has had such a bleak experience. By the end I took away that their core issues were with people that had: an excess of process, a lack of passion for craft, and a generally narrow outlook. These are not the att

Given the nature of the text, the phrase “Sent from my iPad” reads a bit like the way “the word of the lord” etc is used to close a homily in a Catholic mass. Didn’t quite lol, but chuckled. *Edited for typo

Can’t say for sure where it comes from. But upspeak and it’s tangential culture does more psychic damage to me than advertising, “bad ux”, dubious business models, and most of the other common gripes on here

I had the same thought as the reply-er above. You’ve given the impression that principles are not appropriate to act on. Notice the difference in removing the word “philosophically” from your response.

Somewhere I have a dead iPod shuffle with the grey album on it. Listened to that non stop in undergrad. Have not been able to find another bootleg of it :(

Even if you were a contractor performing these “non-essential services” it isn’t uncommon to take that experience and “move up” by moving to another organization. This pattern is also broken by the dynamic described in parent comment

Interesting. With a very strong reference for the experience of skateboarding, reading your sentence made me think about how hard it is to explain! I suppose when it’s going well, it feels like body/mind flow, when it’s going poorly it

I’ve used Glyphs before for drawing type and can’t recommend it enough. Reasonably priced, quite powerful, fast and fluid to use. Drawing—even re-drawing—type is almost addicting. When you get the Bézier curves dialed in just right it’s so

You’re somewhat right, I didn’t wander into unfamiliar areas by myself at night, but I don’t do that at home either. I spent a good deal of time out past sundown, just not meandering out of curiosity. I tried to make it clear that I specifi

Anecdote: spent a week in SF May 2022. We had a great time. I mostly worked but took plenty of detours on foot, bus, and bike—my wife roamed solo for most of the week. I can think of one scenario that gave me /pause/, but didn’t

Avoiding discomfort is pretty much the default operating mode of the brain. There is little to no “rational examination of the realities behind pushing that button” — because that examination hurts. And I am not sure the behaviors are so mu
