Nor should it be a global police force. I think people/countries that don't condone this type of behavior should be more willing to offer refugee status and provide the means to leave such places and situations, but people are pretty hard-m

I understand crowd frenzies (riots, lynchings, witch-hunts) as fear of becoming the focus ("better them than me") and the willingness to be a spectator while not seeing the line between watching to know and enabling an event gone horribly w

I'm still vehement that #1 & #2 are wishful thinking (security through obscurity... better to drop all packets, or simply not use a public address; ULAs are fine IMHO), but perhaps something as simple as a prefix-aliasing notation would

You've heard it before, but for the sake of balancing your comment on NAT... Sincerly and honestly: NAT does not solve anything that a firewall (6 lines of ip6tables rules) - or stopping that unecessary service - doesn't . All it does is c

For that matter, with BTSync I can share my project's git repository with a read-only "secret" (identifier, like a magnet link) and cut out google code/github, etc, all together (now, if only there were a foss version).

I must have missed the memo about fragmentation being bad. However, if the Android folks really do want to zip the stack up (from the kernel to UI) all the way to a common interface, for example, they are going to have to start with the ker

"I googled it" didn't make a lot of sense for the first 5 years either... I tend to say "duckduckgo it" or "ask the duck" when referring to duckduckgo. It's hard to capture that last 5% of linguistic serendipity, so I'm not sure how it coul

The article touches on that angle: Canipre quickly took on the role of “innocent” infringer and blamed their web design firm for obtaining the photos. The design firm allegedly took content from an image bank, but that would have to be a r

Sure, the files are out - no going back there - but the defcad.org people are still subject to interference and possible legal issues, so they would probably still appreciate any support.

The fact that this was written over 120 years ago is a little depressing (in that we still confuse/have a hard time discerning privacy and property, at great public expense). A couple quotes I find especially satisfying to read today: "The
