"Java interoperability will be available on all platforms" I wonder if we will see a resurrection of the long gone Scala on CLR?

How does this work for someone selling on Ebay (or any other auction site)? Is that classified as something else because I don't recall sales tax being collected for eBay purchases.

We aren't at the point of coercion the British government was at. The state of Arkansas isn't deploying its National Guard to enforce the "Great Value brand purchase Act." ;)

The rise of the various open source solutions is relieving but I don't feel confident recommending them yet over say TypeScript. I wish Oracle would see the opportunity here to win back some space of user apps where Java had mindshare

Have an undergraduate in physics and masters in applied math. It's odd how development and the occasional bit of analysis is not too fulfilling. Maybe it's the lack of intellectual challenge?

There's a flip side to the common use case of documentation... How do you solve the uncommon use case when all the docs it seems are showing "how easy it is to do xyz." A month ago, I started on a new web front end. It was se

Curious about the salaries for the top four paying technology languages. Three of the four for US are functional focused languages, and for global all four are functional focused. As someone learning Scala, this is both encouraging and inte

The trouble is "we," the developers aren't the tech industry making the decisions. The managers, who once were full time developers, are making the decisions. I can say hey let's use this stable, mature tool, but which c

Let's just say getting DoD contracts isn't a simple process of showing you have a good idea and tech skills. There is a lot of who knows who, and is not entirely bad I think. We are building our security here, we need to be confid

I think we have Apple to thank for that. JavaFX was compelling but alas all rich platforms were sufficiently moot when they killed Flash on mobile and locked iOS down.

I miss the XP interface as well. Its cartoonish look buttons, animations, sounds brought a certain sense of play or joy to working on those computers I don't get now with OSX or Win 7. Or maybe I was a wide eyed teen ager first explori

"... police are generally able to get users to hand over their passwords, experts say." The NSA and CIA may have the tools but that little statement speaks the gap between what our agencies can do and what theirs can do legally.

Yes, why hasn't this arisen naturally? Are the potential profits too low to collect the meager income of many low-wage Americans and then redistribute the gains over time?

Why doesn't the stock market act as a balancing system to low wages? Lowering wages implies higher efficiency thus resulting in higher profits which ultimately end up in "investors" pockets. Why are these "investors"
