It's because the AI said it did, and nobody bothered to actually check the code. That, or they have some incentive to lie about it. I'm not sure which one of these is false (if any)

Once, for a very very critical part of our product, apart from the usual tests, I ended up writing another implementation of the thing, completely separately from the original dev, before looking at his code. We then ran them side by side a

no, writing tests to verify that the "compiled" code semantically matches the code in the source language is not a good thing. The guarantees that I'm talking about are different. You write tests for your own logic, not to do

I have such a hard time convincing people of this. I don't have astronomical ambitions because, unlike them, I am happy with my situation

please point out where i said "deterministic". I said guarantees that semantics are preserved.

automated tests are not verification. The "llm as a compiler" provides zero guarantees about the code. A compiler offers absolute guarantees that what you write is semantically preserved, barring bugs in the compiler itself. An ll

Are you sure the numbers are correct? Wikipedia lists LNG as 53.6 MJ/kg and 22.2 MJ/L and jet fuel as 43MJ/kg and 35MJ/L. 53.6 / 43 = 1.247 22.2 / 35 = 0.634 Energy density by mass is higher than jet fuel. But

Even worse. It doesn't slurp up the documents folder in your home directory. If you click on documents via explorer (or a file selection dialog), or go to c:\users\myusername\documents, you will arrive at different folders.

Then the statement "Stuff can't interoperate with c++" is true. Nothing from c++ ever gets exposed. You have to explicitly write a C interface yourself, or avoid using c++ features (write C in c++) so everything looks like C

Tree shaking is insane to me too. Just use a language that can actually do proper DCE, if you're not building a website. (I do realize though that most "apps" are just websites without the browser toolbar, unfortunately)
