I worked as a part-time lecturer for one course, over two years, and I did it for the love of it, because I had to take time off my high-paying contract to do it, and it cost me thousands to do it. I don't regret it, and quite enjoyed

I've been using the previous version for a while, and it's been way too complicated and confusing, so I'm happy to see that version 3 is addressing some of those issues. It's very ambitious and promises great things with

This spells good news for electric cars, which seem to have far less sound-deadening material, and indeed far less of any material in the cockpit in order to keep a low weight. I’ve been in two Teslas and the noise is awful compared to my 1

Agreed - there's been too many of this "write once, run everywhere" stuff going on and it always disappoints on user experience and performance. On top of that, native features vanish.

Another problem is that for many years, a user will have been signing up to accounts with their gmail email address. If this address is locked, password resets become impossible. I'm hoping that address reuse never becomes a thing.

That was me joking that it took about 10 years of convincing her to let me buy it, but only a few months of it actually being in the house for her to like it :)

Good grief, the (moving) discussion is terrible and is not getting better. The maintainer looks embarrassed and is doubling down, has not had an opportunity to save face and this looks quite humiliating. Gah. We have to let people save face

I finally managed to overcome the objections of Mrs VR46 and order some Vitsoe shelving for my office - she thought it was ugly - but after a few months (arguably 10 years) she changed her mind completely and thinks they’re great. I wish I

I subscribed to Medium briefly during the lockdown and the content was truly, utterly, awful. Terrible writing drowned out the good and great, reams of tripe, inane nonsense everywhere, and advertised like crazy to me. After a few weeks of

Holy cremoly. I had appendicitis when I was about 7, back in the 1980s, it was awful and after surgery in an actual hospital with actual doctors I was still out of action for six weeks. I have no idea how anyone could be in a fit mental sta

Buying expensive devices to immediately break them in order to make vanity videos and build a following is as conceited and frivolous a pastime as was ever invented. Many (wealthy or not) people are wasteful or negligent in the pursuit of p

What an absolute legend, and what a game to do it with. Many a game did I play in my youth in the wee hours of the morning when most of the world was asleep. And I was RUBBISH, all the gear and no idea. This guy shames me into making more e

I have officially given up on Adobe after 28 years, too. Even with the new features in Potatochop/Lightroom on image protection. I can't run my old software, or I can't obtain my old software, and CC is just a shitshow of pro

I love this pencil so much that I have three, with different lead in each. It’s completely brilliant. And a bargain, or it was. I really like the venerable Pentel P200 series but I only use the 0.7 and 0.9 because there’s no Kurutoga.

Optional makes the supply chain worse by having to make two types of box, two production lines. Or by adding them separately you end up with more packaging material and more transport expense. This is a good move for the environment, even i

Non-violence is only effective where the oppressor is vulnerable to moral pressure. In many cases, the oppressor is not. (Not stating my personal examples, too contentious, but I'm sure you could find your own).
