So what commercial service will GitHub offer to monetize at all? Ads? Data collection? I don't see a reason for anyone to pay for GitHub now.

I work for VCV, which also ships for Linux. I don't find it an issue at all, since the build system is a Makefile supporting Mingw64/MSYS2 on Windows, Mac, and Linux. We statically link everything except glibc, which we've de

Yes, thanks! The website isn't fully mobile-responsive, but it gets the job done. Since Rack is desktop software, the need for a mobile website is less than normal.

It's a bit like open core, except instead of enhancing the core product in a commercial fork, commercial plugins are sold and dynamically loaded by the open-source application. The website includes a store for purchasing these plugins

Correct. The reason I wrote 10,000 users is to assign a concrete number of people (10-100) to the probability (0.1-1%) and assign a salary to it.

In addition to payment processing fees, there is some small accounting effort and liability risks for each donation. To see how this is true, imagine that 10,000 people donate $1 to a cause per year. (This is purposely a huge overestimate f

Seems cool, but how is useful in practice? In 15 years I've never written a C function taking a fixed array size at all. I always write my functions with a dynamic size argument like void foo(char *data, int len) Perhaps crypt

All of the above. Most people want to buy a product that solves a particular problem. Some want to be convinced that what they get results in "perfect" audio, for whatever definition of perfect they have.

I work in the audio industry, and I can say two things: 1) most everything they do is audio mysticism (i.e. complete BS), and 2) they are very profitable customers.

I haven't tried ordering combos (don't really like sodas), so I haven't had this experience. I feel it would be fun to be on the team to test and design revisions to the touch screen menu.

Apps that change the /etc/hosts file work great. Nearly all social media apps pull ads from separate domains, which can be easily curated into a list. Requires rooting your phone.

Perhaps this is because modern language designers gradually solve more niche problems as time progresses, while the rest of the world is still catching up to pre-2000 concepts. The 90's was a great time for new strides in language desi

No, simply making a programming language does not make the field worse. It can only make it better. But if the question was rephrased "are there too many languages to learn in order to be competitive in the job market", than mayb
