And I definitely don't want Google Photos to index all images on my Drive account. I've had this happen and it's a nightmare to fix. Once I accidentally had a node_modules folder sync to Google and it had images in some of

(Google) Backup & Sync currently shows 2:04.46 in CPU time on my Mac. I'm guessing that means 2 hours and 4 minutes. The machine was shutdown overnight and booted this morning. Is this something that resets with each boot?

Apparently, you buy Apple, Tesla, or Netflix, and get lucky because you chose to invest during a wild expansion like we’ve seen since the early 2010s. I’m not sure what you do when you’re in a down market. Last time I lost a lot of money be

Very good point even if only because I was too lazy to do the math in my head. $2000 is a lot for a sofa, and if I understand correctly is what people spend if they want a sofa for a long time and not just a cheap IKEA sofa to throw out a

rental rates ever cheaper than a personal mortgage. This comparison is usually apples to oranges. For example, in Austin, a 20s-30s homebuyer may have a budget of 300-400k for a property. This amount pretty much limits the options to home

I saw those claims in the past few days and have tried both, for me yarn still seems faster although I didn't actually time them.

From the little development I have done in Rust, I have to agree. On the other hand, I’ve been working with react-Native and typescript recently, and it’s a constant mess. Every invocation of yarn leaves at least a couple of warning message

This reminds me of Django’s select_related. You can get pretty far with select-related and prefetch_related alone, but sometimes there’s a need to break out SQL in order to get past some kind of performance barrier. I started my career in D

I was surprised that it ever went out. Even when the last Mac Pro was introduced the cheese grater look was a very nice looking machine.

You might be pointing out how limited my musical taste is, lol. I am a (hobbyist) musician and producer and my focuses have definitely narrowed inward the past several years. I wouldn't consider myself someone who listens to a lot of n

Spotify is worth it alone for the discovery to me now, and I grew up with my weirdo foobar music player and etc. I don't know what your impression of Spotify is, but it seems quite different than mine. When I think Spotify, I think Dis

Disabling it temporarily always fixes the problem, so I have assumed it is due to UBO blocking something which if YT sees has been blocked enough times for a specific visitor, they will prevent video from loading, but maybe my hypothesis is

I find uBlock works well at blocking YouTube ads but occasionally I get a static screen in the video player that says something like “Service not available at the moment.”. YT seems to be intermittently blocking UBO users.

I’m not sure this really matters for a lot of things anymore. Sorting a few hundred text items in a list, for example, is going to be so fast on modern smartphones that it will not make much of a difference whether it’s done in JavaScript o
