As much as I hate the U.S. visa system and support startup visa movement, I am offended by this startup blaming their failure to a U.S. visa issue. I know this Redg guy is very well connected in SF, and many people including the TC writer i

1. If you think Python is a pain, I don't think there is any other language you can learn. I've learned lots of different languages, but Python was one of the easiest to pick up and get started--not so different from BASIC. 2. Unless thing

Not everyone is like you, who's satisfied with a small business making enough money to get by with a relatively satisfactory life. People who risk everything to make something happen don't deserve to hear "Bitch please". The people who wake

Forgive me if this is a noob question, but does 4chan restrict embedding of images.4chan.org images from external urls? I was just playing around with the API and it seems all the images are rendered as the placeholder image that says "4cha

There are many ways, but you could also do something like this: <script> $(document).on("click", "p", function(event){ if($(this).hasClass("expanded"){ $(this).removeClass("expanded").addClass("collapsed"); } els

I really don't get the point. Why not just have two divs inside one paragraph, where the display property alternates whenever you click on it? Also why use an id when what you're actually doing is alternating certain classes of divs? Am I m

The important thing is this has nothing to do with technology. It's more about psychology--what type of assumptions people make when using these technologies.

Did you get to read my post by any chance? That's not what I talk about in the post. My point was, sites like Wikipedia are successful as non-profit, but the type of value Twitter provides is very different from the value w3c or wikimedia p

Like you said, "realtime" has many definitions. And I disagree it's a misappropriated term based on marketing hype. Twitter IS realtime, just in a different context. If you stick to your strict definition, it would be incorrect to even call

I think the when we talk about Twitter, the definition of "reliability" is entirely different. When we talk about emails, we can say it's reliable as long as my email gets delivered one way or another. For example, if I send a mass email to

That's exactly my point. Single point of failure means single point of responsibility, which means that single point of failure must do a damn good job maintaining it. That's why a "non-profit" approach will never work.
