Does this guy know what the hell he's talking about? Here are some of the highlights. Anything else? 1. "Bootstrap.js" 2. "Heroku is built on top of S3" 3. "Bootstrap depends on jQuery" 4. "You no longer have to mess with sessions, logout s

If that CTO guy is actually as well connected as you say he is, they will not fail because of lack of technical person. They will be able to find one immediately. At least don't worry about this problem.

I wonder what happened since then? Socialcam launch party was quite a long time ago, and the story is basically around that time. And the story doesn't sound like a startup failure postmortem, so I'm kinda confused. Hopefully some good news

I've been covered on Techcrunch, Mashable, ReadWriteWeb, TheNextWeb, GigaOm, Lifehacker, etc., multiple times, and I can say for sure that this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Sure it's not as effective as long time ago when there

That's disappointing. I had guessed they might be, but was hoping they were not, because they commented below "(1) We reached out directly to a handful of people that we admired and a number of them were nice enough to take the time to sign

It's really impressive how you guys got so many YC people on board before launching. I really hope you're not a YC company because that would make this post dishonest. (I know many YC alums help out each other but have never seen them do it

I am not trying to figure out all the variables. Also I am not spending too much time trying to figure out "how to make it on HN". I can just go back to doing the same thing I used to before--post on HN, share the post with friends (probabl

Yes. I really agree with this. The reason I asked the question was because I've been seeing several interesting projects posted as "Show HN" and go ignored because of bad timing or any other factors. I tend to check out most "Show HN" posts

Thanks for sharing your experience. Just to confirm, you just posted your post here and didn't tell your friends to come read it, right? Also, would be nice if you could share around how many upvotes there were, and how quickly it happened.

I'm not implying that there's any conspiracy. Some facts I do know: 1. I know for a fact many people do this and it ends up being successful. 2. I have tried this in the past and it worked. 3. I have been observing /new and several really i

Has anyone submitted their project on HN, and without any friends' help, reached front page? My hope is at least on HN, if your project is cool, it will get traction without asking friends to upvote your entry (which happens a lot most of t

Move to San francisco as soon as possible and go to all kinds of networking events. Make new friends and find someone there. You should be able to find someone if you try, especially if you already have been accepted to an incubator. And fr

Thanks. Agreed. Gallery sounds like a good analogy, but in this post I was trying to use the term "graveyard" as a good thing. Guess I couldn't overcome the terms' connotation. Modified the title to point out that it's a good thing :)

I really loved the new version of Firefox that I decided to ditch safari and chrome and go back to using Firefox. But it's too ugly so I removed all the clutter, and now I'm really happy. Thought I would share my experience :)
