I live in Pullman WA. It is certainly very nice here but there is not a lot to do, and it is very much in the middle of nowhere. We rent a 3BR, 3BA house with a massive yard for $1400/mo. You couldn't put a price on the peace of m

Cool stuff here. I'm getting to the point in my career and life where I'd like to remain working in tech, but I've realized the major cities of the world just aren't any place for someone like me. My priorities revolve a

I actually think we agree more than it may seem, even if not entirely. I too am no longer comfortable working for or with those people. I just think it's egregiously bad form for a CEO to send a mass email calling for X group to quit i

Maloney's email was terrible. I would never want to work for someone like that, and never will if I can avoid it. It was a kind and wonderful thing to send a company-wide email saying something to the tune of "If you ever feel mar

As a die hard Noir buff, I love that there is someone who has retired from the SV scene and now dedicates their time to not just noir film history, but specifically as it pertains to San Francisco.

I'm not trying to underestimate anybody. I don't think it's a stretch to say that this material is not exactly on-brand for a monthly razor company, hence the surprise.

No, not at all. Just not who I expected to be the source of a post like this, is all. A flat out shocker, to be honest.

Yes, that is definitely a fair point. Also for clarity's sake I'm a designer but the principles here are the same.

Since Oct 2012, I've gone from $32k, to $44k, to $75k, to $85k (and killer benefits) now. None of these were in SF, NYC, LA, Boston or Austin. All from switching jobs.

FullStory is a vastly better offering than Inspectlet IMO. I rarely see a feature done as poorly as Inspectlet's search/filtering is. Just absolutely terrible. Don't know if I'm the only one on that, or what. If this is

It helps when you aren't in The San Francisco Bubble. I have hired programmers in cities that aren't as flush with talent (Dallas, for one example), and make no mistake: age made absolutely no difference. We just wanted good progr

Thanks! I don't know of anything to speak of like Tony's courses but they look great and I will try them. http://adamschwartz.co/magic-of-css/ This material, while not a course per se, was really integral to

I'm a UI designer who has a pretty strong mastery of HTML and CSS and am just starting to really dive into JavaScript. I will use this material to learn and let you know how it goes. My goal is to have a strong mastery of the fundament
