I think the pacing of Enders game isn't right for Hollywood. The middle of the book, where he's in battle school figuring out politics and strategy is the best part. And what kid doesn't want to be in the battle room? They ba

Not if the code is wrong, and therefore the conclusion may be wrong. I'm no scientist, but I don't think the point of scientific papers is to get unfounded ideas out into the world.

So do airpods actually sound better than the standard wired headphones? If they don't, this is a lot of fancy engineering for some pretty bad headphones. Maybe they just didn't fit my ears or something, but I've always hated

This post by Aaron Patterson made me realize it's fine to debug with print statements https://tenderlovemaking.com/2016/02/05/i-am-a-puts-debugger... In rare cases I pull out a real debugger, but most of

It's especially bad for video games, but I don't see people discuss that so much. Think about this, probably 99% of games that are over 10 years old cannot be played legally on any modern hardware (console games at least, PC games

Same. I started turning on subtitles because of noisy kids, but now I have them on most of the time. I hear lots of people say they are distracting or they ruin comedic or dramatic timing, but you quickly get used to it. You learn to read t

I agree this is a problem, but IMO it's pretty specific to social media, or other free online services. Typically a business can reach 1.0, then seek to expand their market, or release the next big version, get people to pay for a bigg

I'm considering taking a break from spotify premium and I'm wondering what the cheapest way to buy music is these days. It seems like buying and ripping used cd's might actually be the way to go. Of course you don't get

I don't see why you would blame that on streaming. There was plenty of low-quality content before netflix. Movie budgets have gotten huge, in order to guarantee a return, they play to the lowest common denominator, including internatio

This is only half the story. Yeah, you can get a mortgage easily, you just can't easily get the house you want, because everyone and their dog can also get a mortgage and bid against you.

JS has lodash as a very good (IMO) "little utility function" library. But for some reason people decided that instead they would rather shatter it into 1000 pieces.
