Philosophically, that's still not convincing. Lets take the most basic form of advertising as an example. If I put a couch in my yard with a price tag on it, I'm wanting people to notice and desire to buy it, but there's no m

Unless I missed something, they lost a couple of artists that weren't exactly chart toppers, and a few episodes of a podcast. I don't see the fuss.

I don't think they're on thin ice. Remember when people were boycotting Netflix over Cuties? Their stock prices recovered and everyone forgot. People have also boycotted YouTube or pulled their ads. These things just blow over.

I think it depends on your interests. Lots of new AAA games can't run on the switch, but most indies do.

I don't understand people getting upset about fan projects being shut down. What do you expect to happen? You can create an earthbound-like game without calling it earthbound.

While composability is nice, I've always assumed they were just really into OO ideas when they wrote active support.

As someone who is mostly ignorant about the GTA series, can someone explain why it's so popular? When GTA 3 came out, I understood the hype around a sandbox game, but now those are everywhere.

Exactly, even if Meta vanished out of nowhere, react is open source. It's also not even that large of a codebase.

Or you have multiple camera angles and you switch between them to hide the cuts. Like they've done in movies forever. People started doing jump cuts in youtube videos and for some reason we're stuck with it.

This video from a few years ago is a great counterpoint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL6hp8BKB24 It's not defending all CGI, just arguing that we only notice it when it's bad. It's basically a toupée fall

The other thing they didn't get into here is that the quality of ads online is generally trash. In the old advertising world there was at least some thought and work put into ads. Now they are auto-generated nightmares. Check out this

Depends on what you mean by "like the Beatles." If you mean popularity, it's because there's only so much room culturally for artists to reach that level of popularity. They are essentially the mascot for Rock and Roll m

LSP integration is a real game changer. I've tried different plugins but coc.nvim is the first to work incredibly well and not trash the performance.

I used Puppeteer on a project recently to generate some really big and complex PDFs that would have been a massive pain to do any other way, so thanks for your work, and I'm very happy to hear that the project isn't dead.

I wonder what the story is there. Why wouldn't MS just have him continue to work on Puppeteer? They're both open source, so there's not much point in "owning" their own clone of it.

That sounds pretty cool actually. I've used a shell or ssh on my phone; it's fun,but the lack of a physical keyboard makes things incredibly awkward.

It's interesting that Sony and MS have not even attempted to compete directly with the Switch, despite it being a massive success. They're kind of in their own market right now, which is where they usually succeed (like the Wii).

I didn't know it as kid, but the original TV series was created by dubbing over a Japanese show for the action scenes, and then filming new footage of the American actors for scenes when they're not in costume. The white ranger wa

Yeah this is the big red flag for me. I believe that a law firm without a ton of technical knowledge would hire someone to do this work manually, but they'd get an intern or something, this is not skilled work.

It's a tangent, but it's incredible to me that people used to ship video games and other software on physical media and it worked fine. Now you can drop a big turd on the steam store initially and it's just business as usual.
