I'm painfully aware of this type of developer. Usually they really are very smart and talented, which is what allows them to act this way. In my experience, they are initially respected, then they eventually lose that through constant

The other thing people who hate SPAs need to think about is that rendering blogs/news/static sites isn't a problem that developers really work on anymore. Businesses will just pick from the huge pile of existing CMSs or hoste

I think the problem with a difficulty slider is that it puts lots of extra burden on the developer. Balancing difficulty is already tricky, and now you have to do it n times? And a newcomer to the series might choose "easy", which

As other comments say, the difficulty has been oversold. I don't know what your experiences with these games are, but there are lots of forgiving aspects to them that wouldn't be there if they just wanted to make the hardest games

Cool. I'd love to see this become part of the stdlib rather than competing external packages.

I'm no military expert, but it seems like common sense to assume that if the Russian government gets a single nuke off the ground it will be the last thing they ever do.

If you're a painfully shy person, you've probably had the experience when you were young where someone asked you "Why are you so quiet?" and you had no answer for that so you just wanted to die on the spot. That's k

My only connection to the word "terrorist" until that day was from a James Bond game (I was also young). Its hard to believe now, but the idea of a deliberate attack on civilians was really not on most people's radar at all.

There's lots of scepticism from some tech or political circles sure, but I don't think the population in general cares. The latest Oculus got bad reviews because it's so tied to Facebook, and it's since sold over 10 mill

It's pretty amazing the Stadia happened at all. From day one everyone predicted how it would die, and so far it has not deviated from that course at all.

I always thought it would be cool if a publisher managed this themselves. If you buy the game directly from them they give you download codes for every platform. Obviously the financial incentive is backwards, and stores might get angry, bu

Learning Spanish was the same for me. Learning character pronunciations and where to place emphasis is incredibly easy. Once you have that down you can pronounce or spell almost any word.

Exactly, even if you make something novel and win the indie lottery, it's going to be ripped off immediately. Apple and Google are really failing at maintaining any level of quality in their app stores.

This is relying on the assumption that it's unethical to distort the market, which I don't think is a given. Unless you're an anarco-capitalist, and I'm pretty sure they're cool with advertising.
