They tried a more traditional payment model with Super Mario Run and it didn't do well. Sadly I doubt they'll try again soon.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I don't believe this will happen, and unless I'm mistaken, there's absolutely 0 evidence for it. People are usually attached to the artist when it comes to music. You buy a Bowie album be

Sorry to slow down the AMERICA BAD train, but this seems pretty naive. These are incredibly complex, long running issues, and comparing the US with much smaller and less diverse countries is pretty pointless. Every country falls somewhere o

I think the problem here is with HN's obsessive title editing, not the library name.

I would also add that the tooling is very good. A few examples: - Built-in test suite that is simple but extensible. Also fast because it can test different packages simultaneously. - Building is easy. Unless you're doing something unu

These arguments are just going in circles but here's why: You can't store metadata on every object in every provider, and often, resource names are restrictive in length and allowed characters. And what if something needs deleted?

I think there's a healthy middle ground here. Endless tweaking of settings tends to be a waste of time, but if you spend hours a day on a computer, you might as well make it comfortable. Some people use no $EDITOR plugins and wear it l

So "filling a void" here means "giving fans the game they were hoping for"? We definitely weren't expecting or wanting a Bethesda game.

This is a pretty bad take on the article. When Ruby added pattern matching, I was excited and interested in it because I had seen it in other languages and wanted to see how it could work in Ruby. This is no different.

I'd love to see stats on how many people actually still use webcams for online meetings. I rarely do, and I don't care if anyone else turns theirs on. Watching someone act like they aren't hyper-aware of what they look like o

Really? I think it's a pretty obvious benefit. If you bundle something into a container, you can probably run it in kubernetes. This uniformity makes it incredibly easy to deploy and scale new applications.

It's fine to compare language design, and it can make for interesting discussion, but that's not what HN has been lately. It's just "Rust is better because it has x feature." If I wanted that level of discourse I&#x

As a counterpoint, I enjoy music more now. Music discovery is light years ahead of where it was in the iPod era. There's no additional cost to exploring as many artists and genres as you want. Also, streaming services are doing nothing
