I've been using Lyft/Sidecar (mostly Sidecar) and I've noticed the same exact thing. It's common for any pricing model (slow rise, without passing the customer's "worth" threshold). The cab drivers' disdain for taking credit still annoys me

Awesome. I think I tried one of their products in the early days -- have you had good luck with these? Are you talking about this one specifically: http://www.uistencils.com/collections/frontpage/products/bro...

I DO NOT recommend that. I recommend quick sketches until an idea is clear. That's why I go pencil -> thin pen -> thick pen. I only move from pencil to thin pen when an idea is clear, and thin pen to thick pen when the actual visual

I'd love to see something like this if you could give some insight into how you approached this. Parts of the app change constantly, so for me -- the boostrap-esque tooltip walkthroughs have always seemed most logical

Although I respect what you're doing for conversions -- I find it odd how difficult it is to get to a demo of the video or read anything about the practice, not theory, that went behind creating this (i.e. what software was used to record,

Wow. Hits very close to home. I was born in St. Petersburg, and my family immigrated to the US when I was 6 years old. My parents are kind, quiet people who weren't risk takers -- the idea that they left everything behind was always bizarre

Sorry to hear, and hopefully this doesn't deter you from trying again (if that's what you want to do). Sounds like it'll be a lot easier next time around from what you learned, and landing the job you have now was made possible by the same

You're completely right. From the comments/feedback, sounds like I generalized here a bit. I 100% believe in doing what you're passionate about / what you love. If that means contributing to a team of 1000, or a team of 1, so be it -- the "

A lot of solutions simply mean breaking down a problem into further derivates than you think. "becoming attractive to VC's" wouldn't be a solution, there are about 100 details you'd have to get right first. Brainstorm those details and focu

You're right, and it should be just "follow your dreams". Doing your own thing has a lot less to do with it, and just happens to be a part of my dream. Also, I'm not exactly "doing my own thing" -- I'm simply getting to work with a team tha

You're breaking apart a very minor detail. (most) People on hackernews can do this math, as can I. Ironically enough, I had a much longer write-up for that section, and deleted an entire paragraph. An audience / readers are fickle, if you w

I really do love all of these, but I hate knowing that few are viable, and few will ever be real products. "Awesome ideas" are exactly why we built LaunchSky.com -- a tool to quickly and effectively validate if an idea is truly viable (an

Thanks! I know tumlr has its own iPhone version that overrides default (if you leave it as so in settings), but we hadn't given much thought to customizing it. A surprisingly low amount (5%) of our readers are on iOS, but maybe it's in part

While this solves the problem of getting "stuck" in the blog, you can do a lot more than just a link back to your homepage Tumblr customization isn't that difficult -- and I think people with a basic understanding of HTML/CSS should be able

front end, no. It changes too much. Back end, maybe. Only for the core logic that (probably) won't change. Basic rule: don't let work create more work if the benefit's not worth it. You probably knew that already, so just stick to it.
