This is so interesting. I live in Beaverton, OR, and grew up and often visit Eastern Washington. These coffee shacks are everywhere. I had no idea they were a regional thing. I always assumed they were a national thing since I see them ever

You lived in Pullman and didn't attend WSU after high school? I'm quite curious about this. I thought WSU was awesome and if I could have gone without as much debt (living at home) I would have in a heartbeat! Also, the Palouse is

I take it you're in favor of the rumored glass keyboards coming out soon in laptops. I'm not. Physical buttons are key when operating a vehicle IMO. Furthermore, I'd prefer big ass buttons and knobs so that there is as little

I always explain it using recommendation engines. You buy a vacuum and you get suggestions for 10 vacuums you might want to get next. Not so good. You buy a film with Tom Cruise, and you see 10 other Tom Cruise moves suggested, thats not so

I've said this a lot, and I've heard others say it too. I've recently been talking to my sister (a 1st grade teacher) about it and the conclusion we've come to is that even if there was a class it would do little good be

From an enterprise standpoint, I was lead of a team with engineers both in Oregon and Hong Kong. What made us successful was a few key things. 1. We ended up with dedicated BAs and QAs on site in HK so the engineers could get their question

I've listened to a lot of audiobooks over the last several years. I've switched probably 80% of my "reading" time to audio so I can get more content (while driving, cleaning, laundry, etc.). In my case, retention is much

Agreed! I don't mind crazy composites at all. I like looking at all kinds of photography. I hate that he tries to claim its not composited. That seems impossible considering the clouds appear to be behind the moon. Also, how long of le

Same here in terms of stability. I've been using a touch bar MBP 15 for several months and its been rock solid (still on Sierra though). That being said, I HATE the keyboard and the touchbar is just dumb. The battery life is worse as w

That is a really nice story. I would have liked interactions like this when I was a kid. Nice work.

I recall a film I saw on TV as a kid called Testament which just killed me. It depicted a family slowly dying off after their town is bombed. I cried for a few nights after seeing it. I've never watched it since. I wonder if I could ha

Interesting you mention the idea of fasting. I'm learning more about it now. My roommate, who is not diabetic but interested in low-carb anyway, has been investigating this for a while and has brought it to my attention. Any tool I can

I didn't read the story because of addblock but I've seen headlines like this before. As someone with type 2 they always annoy me. I've been eating low carb for a long time (sometimes more successfully than others) and while

Very interesting point. I registered after being a long term lurker just to tell you that I think this is a very interesting way to look at it. I often thing of things as the GP presented it. You're post has me re-thinking it. Thanks f
