I don't thing anybody seriously considered Phi's for generic compute or something. Most experimenters saw it as a way to have something GPU-like in terms of raw power but with no limitations charateristic of SIMT's. Like, sli

Well... Back then in my shop they would just assign programmers to things, together with a couple of mathematicians. Math guys came up with a list of algorithms to try for a search engine backend. What we needed was matrix multiplication an

I used to play with these toys 7-8 years ago. We tried everything, and it was bad at it all. Traditional compute? The cores were too weak. Number crunching? Okay-ish but gpus were better. Useless stuff.

Well, the problem with world domination plans (Microsoft included), is that every actor has one, and they don't necessarily, ehm, align. So the non-desktop part was lost by Microsoft, and this resulted in the world we have now, Linux d

Microsoft did everything, like everything and more, to kill every alternative platform on the planet. Hedging their bets with half-hearted posix support was part of that effort. If not for that MSN vs Internet fiasco, they would succeed.

Knowing polish, russian, lithuanian and bits of other related languages, I find it interesting how the word directly assumes military leadership, the medieval feudal kind of way. It can be roughly translated as "led by a voivoda",

Yes, we own a hybrid so some of that space is eaten by a battery. And the rest of it is taken by all the stuff we always keep around the car. And yeah, it's kind of hard to classify UXs. Wiki says it's a "subcompact crossover

But isn't this how things work in Windows and Mac lands? There are vendors that do hardware support. There are not too many linux-based vendors. And linux still works on 80% of unsupported machines. I go for linux dells. Mostly OK. Cer

Aren't that many pure windevs left these days... In many professional circles Windows itself is no more than a vintage curiosity. So in many ways, WSL is a survival strategy - it makes it possible to stay a relevant developer while wor
