At Facebook, we are now using prettier[1] on all our JavaScript files, a growing number of Hack files are formatted with Hackfmt[2] and now black is being rolled out for Python. It's a really exciting time :) [1] https://pre

We called it that way in React in order to call out attention to the fact that it was actually dangerous. React also properly escapes everything else it prints. The app isn't using React but jQuery, which doesn't have those protec

I just took a look at this and I don't think that the real win in terms of productivity is the fact that you are building an app with a visual environment or code. Both of them are roughly equivalent. What likely set them apart is the

Writing code today is way too hard, my work mission is to try to make it easier. I’m more focused on people who already know how to code than people that don’t. This drew me to work on React, Jest, React Native, Nuclide (Facebook IDE), crea

Also, what I've observed is that infrastructure tends to be a good fit for open source but not products. React is open source but Discord is not even though it's using React. Git is open source but Github is not.

My view is that you should be using the best available service. If it happens to be open source, then it's great but if it's not, it shouldn't be a blocker. I will not stop promoting the open source projects I'm working

I'm really glad I pushed Reactiflux to use Discord when Slack decided to kick them out, it's an awesome product and it's great to see that many open source projects decided to do the same and thrive there :)

You don’t need to do such complex things. You can just require(‘child_process’).execSync(‘any shell command’) with all the user credentials.

Hey, I'm sorry I misrepresented Facebook here. This was a small rant I did in response to a comment on my latest blog post. This is not extremely well thought out.
