As someone getting married Saturday, I can say that this would be a GREAT idea. The ridiculous amount of money we sank in to invitations really rubbed me the wrong way. Also, something I noticed when we were going through all of this was t

At most Universities you can do a double major. If you know what you want early on, this usually won't add much length to the time it takes to get your degree. If the double major doesn't work out, consider minoring in Music. My real pass

I like the idea. Only a small styling issue jumped out at me. For your Twitter feed in the lower right hand corner, long-ish Tweets seem to be overflowing out of the quote bubble (in Chrome at least).

In my undergraduate operating systems class we hacked away at an early version of Minix. The level of detailed code documentation always just blew me away.

The issue isn't about being unhappy with it. The issue is that the plaintiffs think Apple knew about the problem before hand and did nothing. The discovery period for this case will hopefully clear this up, one way or the other, instead o

Thanks. All were hard lessons to learn, but I feel like my next venture will come out of the gate much stronger than this one did. I see life as a learning experience, so no matter how this could have turned out I still came away as a bet

We felt this in Grand Rapids, MI. I was on the 6th floor of our building at the time and the standing dividers in the office were swaying back and forth by about 2 inches.

I can't stress this point enough. I know a lot of people here on HN probably felt the same way while they were in college. In my experience, college is what you make of it. I didn't feel challenged, so I took graduate level classes. Whe

I don't think that Facebook will sink. However, since it's spread itself so thin over so many different areas I think that some startups might come in a become bigger players. It's kind of like Myspace. Facebook did a good job destroying

While not a parent myself, this is my take on it: Parenting is hard. You can tout heavy discipline, not letting the child watch pornography, or giving him internet access, but the fact is that every situation is different. I wonder what m

I'm from Michgan as well, and have a lot of family in the greater Detroit area. The sense of despair that most people in the area feel is just awful. After the auto plants started to close up, people just started packing up in hopes of fi

I recommend checking out Apache Friends site download XAMPP. That will set up a fully functional web environment (Apache, PHP, MySQL) which will let you play a bit with database. It also comes packaged with PHPMyAdmin, which is great for

I got my current job through Craigslist as well. Their job posting was well thought out, and obviously created by a developer, not a random HR person. From start to hire, it was a 1.5 week process for me.

I'm personally far more likely to click something like "Start Making Bingo Cards" -vs- "Sign Up Now" because it feels more like a call to action, not a call to fill some stuff out, then do some action.

Sure code is ugly. So is paint when it's sitting in it's container. But when used by someone with skill, great works of art are created. Same goes for code. Out of context it's ugly, but what it creates is beautiful.

The author makes a good point about dependency on another company. Having your side project or startup completely at the whim of another company is not a good business model. Might be good for a quick dollar, but it's not sustainable.
