Library support is a big deal, and obviously a new programming language won't have a whole lot of that. That issue gets a lot smaller, if the language allows an easy way to abstract away a lot of those issues, making it quick and easy to d

It's certainly not for everyone. One of the big selling points of google plus is being able to do things with friends. The goal seems to be to add an additional level of "social" to their social network. They're doing that through games

I don't think it's for a premium Youtube. I think it's to bolster their Google plus offering. Watching hulu shows live with friends across the world could be something to set them apart from Facebook. Right now Facebook's model is based

This needs a language filter option users can toggle on or off. Would love to have my niece play but there's some questionable content there.

It's an interesting article, but I think it's an oversimplification. In CS (the game), there's some strategy, but most can be picked up on the fly. There isn't a need to abstract away details, there isn't loads of theory that can help you

There's a lot of potential applications for mass manipulation, if it's possible. You'll be hard pressed to find specific examples, because a lot of them depend on how mass manipulation would be possible. Potential applications could be in

Obviously it depends on the person. A self-taught programmer is likely to miss out on the idea of abstraction (data and code) early on. Lots of things might just seem arbitrary or "magical". A solid CS curriculum will do a good job of sho

I agree that the idea that "customers hold all the answers" is flawed, but that's not what customer development is. A better phrase would be "no answers are found inside the building". You can't just ask people what they need and build it

The goal of customer development is to uncover a problem that is worth solving (and that people are willing to pay for). It's not billed as a customer acquisition strategy. Focusing on scaling before you reach product-market fit is premat

Obviously you're taking things to an extreme (but understandable, given the initial remark you're responding to) degree. A better wording would have said something like "A CEO should know a little (or a lot) about all the c-level roles".

In Scheme named functions are simply syntactic sugar for anonymous functions (or Lambda expressions). The same is true in Javascript. http://lpar.ath0.com/2010/10/14/javascript-when-is-a-functio...

There's hundreds of millions of dollars spent each year with people trying to game the system and show up higher in google search results. With the amount of money spent there, it's no wonder that some (a lot of?) worthless results show up

What do you want to do? If you can only learn one "functional" language and you do anything with the web, I'd recommend Javascript (if you don't already know it). It's viable in the front and backends. I'd personally recommend Haskell. I
