We live in an age of identity politics. It will be interesting to see the society that forms when the sexes and the races hate each other. I assume that science will thrive. Soon heterosexual men might choose to pay for a child via in vitro

I'm working on that too. Paper is king. Unfortunately my paper king has multiple fiefdoms strewn throughout my house and office. Sadly his territory span not just space, but time. There are unsearchable notes in books that cover years.

I'm waiting for the 9 features. That should make things easier. Since I'm targeting small physician practices, I need to make everything as simple as possible. I've even toyed with Raspberry Pi as the install device. From wha

Why learn a new language just to learn a new language for production stuff? I looked at at switching to Go from Java for my flagship product. I couldn't find enough compelling reasons to switch. It didn't offer enough benefits to

Probably true. As we saw with the Asgard (1), there will be unintended consequences resulting in the decimation of the species. 1 - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asgard_(Stargate)

I think this is the tragedy of the commons. Computers are getting better. Each team says in its heart "We can be a bit wasteful while providing feature X." When aggregated the whole thing is slower.

I do wonder if this is an issue of misaligned incentives. If a person has workers' comp insurance through their company, why not give a reduced price to the company if they deploy this tool? The owner can show they reduce the risk of h

Keep expanding your problem field. How do you create a car free society? I live in Palatka, FL. A small town that's great for tech since housing is low cost and we have reasonably fast Internet to facilitate remote work or cloud based

I used Hadoop well on an important fraud system. When we first deployed, we only dealt with 59 GB at rest worth of data per day. What I knew would occur is more models would run over the data with each release. I assumed that the models wou

Does anyone have numbers to back this claim? Seems like for IO focused software you'll have a lot of dead CPU time. If you have more threads than cores, you can take advantage of that.

Nice thing about Java's verbose naming is the name tells you the behavior. It also has a lot of internal documentation in the Java. Such documentation is easily accessible from their IDe or the web. As the article points out, you can b
