Nushell isn’t anywhere near as powerful as PowerShell.

I switched to menu completion and the tab completion isn’t as painful with all the choices.

Does anyone even use winget? I tried but its repositories never have the tools I need in it. Scoop has been superior for me in every way.

I didn’t even apply to my community college until a few weeks before the first semester. Not sure if I would have went if I had to take a gap year. Probably would be slinging metal in the union right now but sometimes that sounds nicer.

Personally I don't think it will be helpful for career development. I'm never going to work in a space where Rust will be useful and it would probably be a mistake to choose it. But I'm just a Java dev /shrug.

I think this ignores just how much better GitHub is compared to its competitors — at least from my experience of using bitbucket at work. GitHub rightfully should have more market share.

GraalVM creates native AOT compiled binaries. The goal of hermetic is to ship the normal JVM. This is where is started a year ago: https://cr.openjdk.org/~jiangli/hermetic_java.pdf I’ve been mildly watching the mailing

It’s for both really. The module system comes into play when application developers what to ship a jlinked runtime. You can make the size of your JVM executable down to like 35MB or smaller.

To clarify Java made changes to things they never promised would be a part of backward compatibility. Libraries were using things from JDK internals/implementation details, things that were never guaranteed to be there.

Jlink/jpackage UX isnt the best either. They mostly produce installers not a single binary that you can just run. Project Leyden has some interesting work around this called Hermetic Java which plans to ship one binary with the VM + ja

You picked a project that (A) is literally older than the sun, (B) targets Java 11, a version from 5 years ago, and (C) the file is generated. Right at the top of the file... > /* QueryParser.java / / Generated By:JavaCC

I just disagree. This is not idiomatic Java; it's idiomatic JPA. All of the Java I see professionally and in the community uses immutable classes when not dealing with JPA entities.

That's purely your choice on the libraries you use. Nothing in the language is forcing you to do this. Getter/setters are just a requirement of JPA which you don't have to use. In fact if you just use jOOQ or query dsl you ca

Errors/Exceptions are just way too contextual without some sort of operator to say “hey trust me I know this can’t happen”. I’d like to see Java adopt something like Kotlins !! operator rather than coloring the stack with throws clause
