The game prompts you when there's commentary to be heard, and it's presented as like a radio transmission. It's basically a bunch of the leads talking and giving behind the scenes insight into things. It's been a while s

Yeah the boss fights in DX:HR came as a kick in the groin for players who focused on stealth. I'll just note that the Director's cut release revised the boss fights, expanded the arenas and added ways for stealth players to deal w

Just a small comment about sponge: looking at the example, it's doing "sponge file", not "sponge > file". Given that, it's totally up to sponge to decide when it's going to open the output file.

The question you ask is valid. If I were to guess (I didn't downvote you), it's because of your second sentence. It hints that you're thinking about it in a zero-sum kind of way. Google benefits from a healthy and secure web.

If you're willing to spend money on a font for coding, then do yourself a favor and take a look at PragmataPro as well. I bought a license (checks notes...) 8 years ago and it has served me very well. If I was not down to pay for a f

Yeah, I wish browsers would display a huge blinking warning when a user installs an extension that wants DOM access on any webpage. People should be extremely wary about these types of extensions. I don't really care what kind of "

Yeah, I agree that there are libs that have this problem, but it's not a new thing. Boost is a huge collection of libraries, with different properties and tradeoffs. It has been the case for two decades that a lot of the Boost libs a

This is 95% criticism about C++20 ranges (specifically the ranges v3 implementation), but spun as being about some more general trend. I think some of the criticism of ranges is fair - compile times do matter and non-optimized performance

I used Workbench for quite a long time (didn't get a Window PC until '97). First 1.3 on an Amiga 500 and later 3.0 on a 1200 tricked out with a 68030 and 42 (yes) MB RAM. Some of the things in Workbench were really nice. For examp

Runtime checks for signed overflow can be enabled with -ftrapv in GCC and clang. Having this option open is why some people prefer to use signed integers over unsigned.

The "photorealism" of that ML demo was vastly overstated. A lot of post processing effects in games are there to (somewhat ironically) emulate defects of cameras: vignetting, chromatic aberration, bloom, flares etc. I think this M

One of my early jobs in the industry, some 20 years ago, was at a little company that had a stock trading system mostly written in Perl. My experience with Perl prior to that had been simple CGI programming and odd scripts. The trading syst

The innovation in WASM is more about getting all the major players in the browser space to agree and support it as a first-class citizen in the web stack. That polyglot bytecodes existed in the early 1980's does nothing for the web.
