May be, but many (most?) carnivores first kill their prey before eating them. There are exceptions of course, like the Python. Either way, it is horrible to watch.

Someone posted a video on Reddit of a baboon eating a baby deer, alive. It was like 2-3 mins, couldn't watch more than a few seconds. It was horrible. I remember thinking, why can't the stupid baboon kill the deer and then eat

It is actually both. While it is true that many users don't understand, there are many users who understand and still don't care.

I remember reading a similar story about the person who created IMDB - for a long time, he was updating the site by himself, before it was sold. I can't find the link though. There was another person who wrote hundreds of webcam drive

In the U.S, jokes are often made about male sexual assaults (look at the movies, for example). Sexual assault is horrible, regardless of age/gender etc. So it's good to have open discussion about it and bring awareness.

What about unit tests (and other testing code)? Those could occupy decent size too.

Those are very different skillsets - someone who is street smart may not be able to do the simplest of coding tasks, and a very good engineer may not have any skillset to survive the streets. This comparison doesn't make much sense.

I got one of those electric kettle you linked. It is made of plastic - the boiled water smells, tastes like plastic. This is not just the first time, even after a dozen times it tastes the same, and it is horrible. I don't know anyth

What is the importance of "VC-funded" here? What you are saying is true for any for-profit service (specifically those that we use for free), isn't it?

I disagree. There are lots of non-software people (other engineers, business people etc) for whom SF is not the ideal destination. They are quite tech savvy, though they might not know how to code. I'm sure they'd use it.

Two ideas: 1. Would be labor intensive, but: a site (blog?) that talks to people/experts from various industries, quizzing them about problems they face in their daily jobs. Some of these might be solvable by software. It doesn'

Focusing less on technology, and more on business strategy which uses technology as a tool How does one go about doing this (other than spending a decade working in a particular domain)? Do you follow any plan, certification etc?

That's one way to look at it. I'm not disagreeing with it, but another way to look at it would be - any work that puts food on the table is work with purpose and dignity. Yet another (self centric?) way to look at it would be -

Honest question - why do financial data feeds (stock data) cost so much? Ideally, this is public information, so they should be available for free (or a nominal cost), no?
