Does prison time deter murders? I'm guessing no, considering the death penalty apparently doesn't. Does that mean should we not send murders to prison? My rationale for supporting the death penalty is justice. If you, with malice

Agreed. In the word of "the dude" - "You're not wrong, Walter, you're just an asshole". Asshole is probably too harsh a word, but considering that "futurestack" was already taken as a domain and as a

ahh.... wow. I knew that google was going to stop sending referrer info on https, but I thought that was some how optional and not the default. Thank you very much for the info, I'll have to go find a cheap cert.

My product (www.machete.io) has been on both HN and PH in the past week. Its hard to measure HN because rel=nofollow => no referrer in google analytics. Also, our HN post wasn't specifically about our product, but rather a visualiza

haven't used splunk, but IIRC, they focus on logging. Tableau is a better comparison. They (like excel) are the "do everything" solution. Meaning that if you want to change/tweak a chart or come up with a new chart type,

Median might solve some of that issue, unfortunately it is computationally heavy to do median on a rolling basis, unlike average. Part of the reason the filters work so quickly is because when I add or remove items from the active set, I ca

yeah, things can get a bit screwy when you filter and then change the active measure. It isn't a simple fix unforunately. I've added a bug to our backlog. Thanks!

Right now we only support CSVs they get served directly from blob storage to the browser (without going through our webserver). We obviously want to expand on those options, but CORs makes serving from internal company data sources a PITA.
