"They can break compatibility every time, for all I care." that's why apple won't find much traction in the business world. backwards compatibility is very important. You want to write software once, not have to continually update to migr

awk's sprintf can do all of that. Not saying it's the right tool for the job, but the parent did have a pipeline already using awk.

It's actually more common with tires, but there are battery manufacturers like Interstate that give prorated battery warranties (of course there are all kinds of stipulations on the warranty protecting them from negligence claims)

The question you have to ask is how they are making money. If it costs 2 dollars to make a dollar in revenue, then you are actually losing money. There's no guarantee that they will continue to make money if they tone down their spend (for

I didn't use the word 'powerful' because powerful generally refers to expressivity. I'm most interested in performance. C++ template metaprogramming gives you most of the expressivity of generic programming without paying a large runtime p

There was a cultural revolution in business whereby people saw the role of the firm as profit-maximizing, where profit is measured on a quarter-by-quarter basis. In that light, Jobs was crazy for focusing on the product (and letting the pro
