I've had long-time overtime policies changed for the better, actually! It was great. We had went from not getting paid for fixing servers on xmas eve, to a clear and well paid system of who was on call. I have less than great experienc

It would be in the interest of the company to catch problems as early as possible and difuse the situation. Seems that Amazon has failed on multiple levels to understand the situation.

There's a flood of aging developers right around the corner, starting with the C-64 generation. Perhaps there are not tons of older developers now, but there will be soon.

I try to eat low carb too, and feel better when I do. I've also lost a lot of weight. One thing I dislike about eating low carb, or paleo for that matter, is that it is not possible to measure it (other than weight, of course). It is b

It's true that video game streaming is far from being mainstream, but considering how engaged kids are in gaming now, I don't think it's far-fetched to see it only becoming more popular in the future. There is already a lot o

Here's a tip: instead of changing your objects, you can create a new object with the same values except the ones you want to change. Another option is to use builders (that are mutable), to build/copy your immutable business (?)

What ORMs have taught me: people will complain endlessly about how ORMs don't work, when they don't bother to understand how they work, what they should/shouldn't be used for, and how to use them appropriately.

I took a position as a team manager when I was offered, and I absolutely do not regret it, but it made me realize that what I really wanted to do was to be a developer. Try to find out what you really want to do, and be aware of that it is

Yeah, maybe it wasn't a great question. I can get 3.5% where I live, though. Mutual funds may be a much better option, though.

It would be great if everyone used PGP/GPG, but there's something missing for it to get widespread adoption. It probably needs to be easier and more user friendly somehow. Perhaps there's an opportunity for someone to do some
