Also, incidentally, I'd happily pay a bit of premium for a TV / Monitor that has good image quality but no other features. Perhaps not 2x as much, but 20% might be doable.

What is less clear, however, is the capability of the traditional payment networks to improve. Before bitcoin et al, they might have had no reason to. I don't find it very likely that the 60 days transaction speed, for instance, is unf

Excuse my French but what a fucking surprise. Who ever thought they would? That's right, I did. Hence I'm a bit pissed off right now. But even though I was dumb enough to believe, at least I was smart enough to wait for it, and di

So now again we're devising methods of killing people that make it easier for the killers. That's the same problem that the overseers of death camps faced and solved.

I'd like to bring up another sort-of alternative: http://habitat.sh It's not exactly in the same space as Nix, but not very far from it, either. In Habitat, you use a language that felt to me quite similar to Arch Linu

I don't know Idris so this syntax is probably wrong, but by reading the docs for a short while, this would be any : (a -> Bool) -> Lazy List a -> Bool ... which would make it as performant and clearer than Haskell's any

I wonder if Idris could some day take Haskell's place. It sports default eager evaluation. Seems like the tooling (package managers etc.) isn't quite there yet, though.

I recently wrote a book using Libreoffice and Microsoft Word, because the publisher demanded it. The process took about a year. My own estimate is that we lost about 2-3 months to tool-related problems, without any benefit whatsoever. I hav
