I get people claiming "fraudulent charges" when they forget to cancel. It is very hard to argue against that and the terms of service don't help much as evidence.

When? Do you have a link? Because the most recent delay was down to SpaceX. Their new dragon capsule was not ready on time to collect them, so they had to shift and replan for an older one.

That's not great, especially since SpaceX apparently expected the component to burn up in the atmosphere. Given there are thousands of them up there, and all must re-enter over the next decade or so, that's a lot of potential debr

Haha, that was my thought when looking through it as well! Not that NASA is any better. I spend a huge amount of time dealing with pedantic RIDs instead of actually implementing the things I am paid to do...

You can do the sums. Spacecraft lose heat by radiation and if you do the sums for a small spacecraft you can see the equilibrium temperature is low enough that you don't need to take any special measures to shed the heat.

It depends on the size of the satellite and its power use. Small spacecraft often don't use enough power to generate enough heat to warm themselves. The problem then is batteries get cold (which is one of the places you need heaters) a

That will never work anyway. Migrants could switch to crypto or other methods. The levy would probably end up hitting business transactions if anything.

This paper - https://www.nature.com/articles/s43247-023-01050-7 - suggests the use of sulphur dioxide is not trivial, it is linked to about 800,000 deaths per year and that ocean going shipping is responsible for "

I don't think the Spanish address it at all. I lived there for a while and I remember visting a lot of glorious cathedrals and castles. Most of them were funded with gold looted from the Americas, but there was never any mention of it.

Unlikely to be easily possible. The chips inside the Starlink terminal will not work with Eutelsat or any other network than Starlink. In theory Eutelsat and Starlink might be able to work together to make them compatible, but it would be d

Bit of a tangent, but I've always wondered why the United States has a very clear dividing line between the populated east and relatively empty west. It's really visible in the first map you shared. Is there a historical reason be

Why is the government leasing nuclear waste storage? Who would offer a lease that lets you dump nuclear waste on your land? Surely this is the kind of thing you buy land for, not rent it.
