Yeah! The AC bonus is amazing. The summer gets so sticky, not anymore. We got it in around July I think, made for an amazingly comfortable August.

100% agree. Our electricity costs are fairly low, and its a very low carbon source (mostly hydro electric + nuclear), so for us it makes a huge amount of sense. If you're in Alberta, where most of the electricity comes from coal...ther

So, i have a house in Haliburton Ontario. Historically we drop a cool $3k a year on propane. Last year we installed a Mitsubishi hyper heat ductless system. We used zero gas this year. Read it again, zero. It’s lakefront, very remote, and t

Mostly just because it’s there already, and after getting familiar with it i really like how fast it is to get a project started. Ecs is great, but fly is 10x easier to deploy to.

I inherited a project on fly.io but before that I’ve used ECS as my primary platform. While ECS is kubernetes lite, fly is ECS but a little more dev friendly in the realm of not dealing with the complexities of IAM etc. It has other downfal

As someone thats on startup #7 and is ~37 years old I can attest to this: I have had 5 flat out failures, 1 break even experience and 1 life changing experience (I don't own a private jet unfortunately). I'm fucking tired. I reall

Parent here :) Yeah i am, but i think the thing few consider (although some did provide the remark here) was that while the chances are good (given infinite time), the reality is no one has that. So yeah, give someone 500 years, hopefully t

Canada, very similar. We had days in January over 14C up by our cottage near Haliburton. Normally we see temps around -20C that time of year. I’ve never seen a warm winter like this. The snow mobile trails also never opened on the lake this

Yeah this is similar today. No one calls a student for cheating, at least in what I’ve been observing. Students that complain get additional marks, students that get accused of anything revolt, teachers are basically scared of the “customer

I keep coming back to this. What about the student? “Pay for it”, how out of touch is this person? Have you seen what students are paying…I’m so frustrated by the complete lack of accountability our education system is taking for these pers

Eh, no...i mean, maybe...I honestly feel the issue is me. I always want a lot of detail, and that can become expensive. Sometimes the detail I want is more than I needed, but I don't know that until after I've asked the question.

Right ok that makes sense. The reason i wanted this was for the reason mentioned earlier in this thread: you spin up a DB but don’t have the credentials. Fortunately i had stored them as an env var and was able to recover them, but otherwis
