Having worked in the OCR world pretty much non stop for about a decade, i'd say its more just a case of there not being a lot of 101 yr olds, and there being a lot of 1 year olds; the system is likely over-optimized for switching the d

That is what I did back then, i actually got a great response and the explanation of why this issue existed was valid. Not a real concern, I just don't love the way Amazon suggests "use Aurora" all the time when the real issu

Would you sign your first born over to me on that promise? Obviously I'm joking, but i have in the past got nervous that there might be issues with this claim. I.e. previously i found that the MySQL welcome banner that Aurora gave me c

Thats a great feature, if you're on Aurora. In my case these were MySQL RDS instances created ranging from 2012 and beyond. Migration of the app to Aurora is possible (after testing), but it would be a much larger change.

I've run into this need. Generally, you have a DB, you just want to bring it back to a point in time. As RDS instances can be part of a bigger setup, it's not always trivial to point your application at a different instance, so re

I don't disagree, but i've been in the room when people make absurd decisions like this and need to be discouraged to make a more rational decision. On that basis, I'm just saying perhaps they're not evil, but they'

To play the devils advocate here (and to be frank, i think people should be able to use compatible products), it's possible the manufacture is concerned that products they didn't make could cause an issue. I.e. filter is too restr

I think what you’re describing is a small organization. The reality I've experienced is that once your team grows beyond 20-30 people maintaining that setup is very difficult. I think the main responsibility of a founder is to set a vi

This is solid advice, as a founder i always hated people leaving without me having the chance to fix the situation. It’s hard to keep a tab on everyone, so raising it and giving them the opportunity to help should be well received (and if i

I guess I just don't know what you're saying then. It's easy to make money if you already have it? Maybe in terms of quantity, but in terms of % return i don't feel the ease of producing a return is really super linear o

The issue i have with all these arguments is that while you can turn x into 2x, when you layer on interest, taxes, and any fees you encounter in the process...your cut won’t be what you thought it was going to be. Making money isn’t cheap a

So you have a good argument, but that basically means all that stands between someone making $10million is getting the credit to start their business? I’d love to offer you that credit and take half your profits after interest and taxes.

I'd love to see you try. It's easy to turn $20 into $40, but as you approach larger numbers it keeps getting harder.

In Ontario the rent control is even worse. It’s set by the landlord tenant board at a number near inflation, this year it’s 2.2%, the last few it’s been 1.8%. Similarly, i tell my tenants that they should expect the minimum increase yearly
