Besides the obvious fact you stated, I think they actually show different information: the thing we're discussing is a map of popular or famous or remarkable train routes, not the map of all the railways in the world.

This is the most recent "Who is hiring" thread, just for your information: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49156683 Your post probably belongs to the recent "Who wants to be hired" thread: https:&#

That's a nice demo, but the text are so obviously written by Claude that I barely forced myself to read it through the end. “The client is the load-bearing part” – real people don't write like that. Asking a human editor to remove

Some people say this phrase, “Sorry if this is a dumb question”, with such a face and intonation that everyone in the room immediately reads the real meaning, "You are all idiots here, and I'm not".

The mention of the 49 years here made me want to fact check, and it proved to be quite difficult. If one foolishly googles "Hoover Concept II", Google AI overview will happily show a paragraph saying that Concept II was released i

There are several very non-trivial steps between the agent harness stopping asking a question before running `git` with a new parameter, not seen before, and the agent draining my bank account.

And it's the right decision: Codex works in a similar way, with auto-approving most actions it considers safe and within the sandbox, and it feels much nicer.

I assume different ways of learning work for different people. For me personally, it's taking a piece of paper and drawing the diagram of how things work together; of if it's some math, then, again, using the pen and paper to foll

The title is not representing what the post is about. “Use LLM to learn complex topics” here actually means that the author asks an agent to describe the problem area, and then implement a simple web-based simulation game, and by playing th

The Tetris company is well known to protect their trademark, you better rename this to something like "a generic block game with tetraminoes" before their lawyers come to you with a cease and desist letter.

I used to teach C to students many years ago, and with agents it's becoming a niche craft. C is still both an important and fun language to use, and I've been very slowly making a C language course to let beginners learn a bit abo

The link currently points to an article "Runware Squeezes A 1MW AI Data Center Into A 20-Foot Shipping Container", not anything about the Tesla explosion. Fix the link?

That's either before, or after you have kids (if ever). As long as the school starts, you have (almost) no choice.

Being a coffee drinker, I would not agree with the "worth it" part, but I was indeed surprised to learn some time ago that a can of Diet coke contains 46 mg of caffeine, which is basically a half of espresso shot. We don't le

For whatever random reason, all the QR code menus where I live are implemented in a really, really shitty way: unresponsive, with huge latency, making it unnecessarily hard to make a choice. And good luck asking for a modification, like no

This is the right way to handle the situation like that, and kudos to the author for writing the second post. This is also a reminder that people lie or just hide some part of the story all the time, and we as readers should question every

It is. I do not use credit cards for about 8 years except for having just one credit card for renting cars a few times per year when I travel. I have zero problems paying for Uber, Lyft, hotels, and everything else with my debit cards.

The work vs gym distinction is a nice way to put it. After I started doing my coding work with Claude and Codex, I also started solving daily LeetCode problems; it's my gym, just so I remember how to code.

Do you work for Microsoft by any chance? :) I mean, come on. The vast majority of services that have apps running on TV implemented QR code based login workflow ages ago, and it just works. For Xbox, logging in is always a struggle.
