I have a 10 years old Xbox One, and every fucking time my family and I want to play a game, maybe once in a few months or so, it's always a struggle. Oh, let me download a few gigs of a system update. Oh, and the game you want to play needs an update too. Oh, and you are now logged out so go remember your password and type it using the controller. It's never a seamless experience that you would expect of a game console, which has one job: let the users play games.
- criddell 2mo agoDoes the XBox not have an option for doing those updates in the background or when you aren't playing?
- ventana 2mo agoIt probably does, but it's turned off the majority of time. It's still plugged in, so I wouldn't mind if it updated itself silently, but no, it does not do it when it's turned off.
- yesb 2mo agoIt does but it's not reliable. The update process is also the slowest imaginable other than Windows update. It takes several minutes at times just to discover which games need updates.
- asdff 2mo agoIf you haven't played a game recently it will punt it out of the auto update queue.

- ventana 2mo agoDo you work for Microsoft by any chance? :) I mean, come on. The vast majority of services that have apps running on TV implemented QR code based login workflow ages ago, and it just works. For Xbox, logging in is always a struggle.
- aianus 2mo agoI just bought an Xbox Series X and logged in via QR code and Xbox app on my phone. No need to type into the console.
