I always click through to these announcements on HN, hoping to hear people talk about real projects (professional, hobby, or whatever) they are doing with this interesting language. Please share if you have any! Back in ancient times, I use

I clicked through to this article because I recently bought some scissors from Amazon here in Japan. I didn't do any comparisons or anything, I just chose a cheap model from the first page of results. I am not like a heavy scissors use

I really want to love Keybase but nobody (meaning my wife and friends) will use it because the performance for basic chatting sucks abysmally on mobile (plain text chat works but things like pasting an image don't work, for any wife-ac

That's sometimes how Japan does it as well. A few years back I had to take a day trip from Tokyo to Sapporo to install a piece of hardware. At the Tokyo Narita airport, this Japanese guy in jeans and a leisure jacket standing next to m

Depends. Is 100% of your company's business doing contract development writing CRUD apps in Angular? If so, then sure. Otherwise, YMMV. See also: "Are semi-polished rocks the only implement your ass-wiping needs?" and: &quo

Wow! If you insist on having a floating bar at the top of your web page, this sort of scrolling progress indicator should be mandatory. (Also, I learned about menstrual cups due to your enticing reference to the progress indicator which tip

I did not read TFA, but I think the reason people go from Ruby on Rails to Rust is that various people they trust went that route. For instance, Yehuda Katz and Steve Klabnik were both extremely helpful and widely admired figures in the Rub

I use one, instead of a car. (Driving a car just seems lazy to me. But I do it sometimes, when I'm feeling lazy or when I have to transport my kids.) Before 2010 or so, I used a traditional manual bike. But today, a non-powered bike se

Defaults really matter. Probably 1% of users would ever think to look for a way to change that behavior. I think Firefox for a long time tried to optimize for those users who do want to tweak their software, and doing that can even be a

True, but for me, all of those things are outweighed (and then some) by one simple fact: it takes me 20 seconds to move the entire load of wet clothes into the dryer. I can’t even get to the line in 20 seconds, much less hang all the clothe
