My thoughts exactly. There is a time and place for footnotes, sidebars, and citations, but they take attention away from the body text and, when overused (gwern.net), the entire site can look cluttered and disorganized. Most people aren

The argument is more about the relation between the visualization and the audience, not the data and the visualization. I see a lot of commenters missing this point.

I hope I'm not too late to this thread, but I have a couple comments and a question. The experience is better than Amethyst or Yabai, but there is a learning curve. I think it would help if the documentation was one single searchable p

Don't give up. I had the exact same issue when AeroSpace when I first used it, but I gave it another chance because of my constant frustrations with Amethyst. The commands do what they're supposed to, but unless you read the docum

Of course it's an opinion column. But how is it masquerading as news? All opinion columns have a central thesis that is supported by facts. This is a thesis about the current state and future of AI. Like any opinion piece, the author c

Ironically, you could have proposed an argument had you taken your symposium-style philosphy classes. Instead, you find yourself on the wrong side of a “hot” take with no means to defend yourself.

On the other hand, there are a lot more competitive video games than there used to be, so the best competitive gamers are spread all around instead of just in Counter-Strike.

Most people didn’t find the ad disturbing, so the offensiveness is a relation between you and the content, not the content itself.

I see the point, but wouldn't this new rule also force employers to pay more to prevent workers from leaving in the first place? Employees won't leave if they are well compensated.

When you use the word "just," you seem to be implying that Vim is a suitable development environment out the box, when in reality it takes hours of configuration over weeks of time, conservatively. Even then it's not going to

I mean, just doing the math and being agnostic about the strengths of different interpretations seems to be an interpretation. Maybe it's more of an epistemic position than a metaphysical one, but it still kinda counts.

To be clear, I never suggested the many-worlds interpretation isn't philosophy, but I still think it's mystical nonsense (as most indulgent metaphysical speculation is).

No one, even the most ardent of postmodernists, is going to disagree that science is a very successful human enterprise and produces progress that philosophy cannot. But that doesn't mean science approaches an account of reality on its

I think your critique of philosophy would land better if you picked an easier target. The primary metaphor of the Tractatus (pulling up the ladder) often goes over people's heads.

Cost of ownership of an M3 MacBook Pro is like $300-400 a year. Even if you have the time, it's just not worth it anymore like it used to be.

I agree that city subs have basically been ruined by overbearing moderation, but ultimately it's a small part of Reddit. Go somewhere else for that. Plenty of other subs are doing fine or are thriving.
